How to Select the Perfect VW SUV at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer

Where the VW Taos wins: For those of you looking to score a VW SUV at the lowest possible price point, the VW Taos is the least expensive in our entire lineup. Additionally, it has the best fuel economy when comparing it to our other SUVs (with the exception of the all-electric VW ID.4). For an SUV owner on a budget, the Taos is the clear winner.

2022 VW Tiguan

Starting MSRP: $26,295
Engine/Powertrain: 2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder
Horsepower: 184
Torque: 221 lb-ft.
Fuel economy: 23 city/30 highway
Max towing capacity: 1,500 lbs.
Seating capacity: 5 or 7
Max cargo space: 73.4 cubic ft.

Where the VW Tiguan wins: Although the VW Taos is the least expensive SUV in our lineup, by paying a little bit more you can get a full-size SUV in the VW Tiguan. Granted, you’ll see a slight decrease in fuel economy, but you will bump up both your storage capacity and your power under the hood. Additionally, the seven-seat option is perfect for those with a large family dynamic.

2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport

Starting MSRP: $33,200
Engine/Powertrain: 2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder or 3.6L V6
Horsepower: up to 276
Torque: up to 266 ft-lb.
Fuel economy: 21 city/25 highway
Max towing capacity up to 5,000 lbs.
Seating capacity: 5
Max cargo space: 77.8 cubic ft.

Where the VW Atlas Cross Sport wins: When you think of powerful full-size SUVs, think of the VW Atlas Cross Sport. Although the sticker price is a bit higher than the Taos and the Tiguan, you’re getting more storage and far more power for your money.

2022 VW Atlas

Where the VW Atlas wins: For those with a big family and huge cargo capacity demands, they need the largest SUV in our lineup. The VW Atlas seats up to seven people and features the most cargo space out of any VW SUV that we carry. It also happens to be the most powerful.

2021 VW ID.4

Starting MSRP: $40,760 (as low as $33,260 after potential federal tax credit)
Engine/Powertrain: All-electric powertrain featuring 82-kWh battery pack
Horsepower: 201
Torque: 228 lb-ft.
Driving range: Up to 260 miles on a single charge
Max towing capacity: up to 2,700 lbs.
Seating capacity: 5
Max cargo space: 64.2 cubic ft.

Where the VW ID.4 wins: The VW ID.4 is the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, so you should set your expectations high for this SUV. It has fantastic range, plenty of power, and a fantastic price point when comparing it to other electric vehicles in its class. If you’ve ever considered making the switch from gas to electric, the VW ID.4 is a great choice.
