the word inflation on a piece of paper

Consider Inflation: Is Now a Good Time to Buy a New or Used Car?

Tips to Use When Shopping for New Cars for Sale in Houston The past couple of years have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the automobile industry. When factoring in all the variables such as the pandemic, semiconductor chip shortages, overseas shipping delays, and an up-and-down economy, it all adds up to one very big problem – inflation. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), inflation for new cars is up 10.1 percent year-over-year when comparing August 2022 to August 2021. For that same time period, the BLS reports that inflation on used cars and trucks is up 7.8 percent. This has made it especially difficult for those shopping for new cars for sale in Houston. Vehicle Inflation and the CHIPS Act For new and used vehicles, inflation is up due to price increases on the production level and the shortage of semiconductor chips. However, the Biden administration has made a commitment to resolve the semiconductor chip shortage with the executive order to implement the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The act is specifically designed to rebuild domestic supply chains, manufacturing, and the infrastructure that is required to produce essential semiconductor chips for new vehicles. What does this mean? In addition to creating domestic jobs, the CHIPS Act should get the automobile industry back on track. By extension, this should cool down inflation on new and used automobiles, although it won’t happen overnight. Experts are saying it will be a very slow process before car prices return to “normal levels” – a term that’s open to interpretation and subject to change. How to Shop for New Cars for Sale in Houston With interest rates continually on the rise, it is not as prudent as many people assume to wait for a car. The Fed has been raising rates each week, making it the smart decision to buy now before interest rates go up. Furthermore, trade values for your current car have never been higher, making it a really good time to make an upgrade for many folks. There are definitely ways to shop for new cars for sale in Houston for consumers who are conscious of their budget. For those who are in the market for a new car, focus on getting a low interest rate, a low monthly payment, a great warranty, and a high value on your trade-in. Regarding that last item, used cars are selling for much higher than normal, so you should be able to get a good deal on that front. It's also worth noting that some dealerships will allow you to extend the terms of your loan to decrease your monthly payment, which many borrowers find helpful. Another thing that savvy car buyers look into is the overall cost of ownership on a vehicle. Things like gas, maintenance, and the cost of repairs all add up. A list provided by Savvy (Sept. 2022) broke down the top 30 most expensive brands of cars to maintain over the first ten years of ownership. Brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz were at the top of the list, costing owners $26,364 and $19,106 respectively. By comparison, Volkswagen ranked all the way down at the #22 spot, costing owners just $11,551 over the first ten years for basic maintenance and repairs. However, VW is trying to get that number down even further with their Carefree Coverage warranty program. It’s a suite of coverages designed to keep your Volkswagen vehicle in tip-top shape. It includes: 2 yrs. Service - Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles) 3 yrs. Help - Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles) 4 yrs. Coverage - New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) 5 yrs. Access - myVW Remote Access When you visit the VW service center for maintenance or repairs, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, making the process simple and easy. It comes included on all late model VW vehicles. Ready to Shop for Used or New Cars for Sale in Houston? Visit VW Cypress! Sizing Up the 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport

Getting to Know One of the Most Exciting New Cars for Sale in Houston Considering the amount of choice on the new and used automobile market, it can be difficult to make one lone selection when shopping for an SUV. First, you must decide if you want to go with a subcompact, compact, or full-sized SUV. Then it becomes a game of figuring out what trim level you want, which features are most important to you, and what you need under the hood as far as torque and horsepower are concerned. Oh, and we can't forget about that one very important detail regarding fuel economy. The last thing that you want is for this SUV to drain your bank account via the pump. Fortunately, the brand-new 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport checks off a lot of the “must-have” boxes on car buyers’ shopping lists. It's the perfect blend of size, storage capacity, safety and convenience features, and muscle under the hood – all wrapped up in one gorgeous package. Let's go over some of the highlights of this game-changing SUV from Volkswagen, and where you can find it when shopping for new cars for sale in Houston. The VW Atlas Cross Sport – Cargo Space, Power, and Plenty of Features The standard Volkswagen Atlas is the biggest SUV you’ll find at a Volkswagen dealership near you. It comfortably seats up to seven people and is easily the largest vehicle on our lot. However, for some drivers, the Atlas is a little too much SUV. For those that want to scale things down just a tad without sacrificing too much storage, the VW Atlas Cross Sport should perfectly fit the bill. Instead of getting up to 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space, Atlas Cross Sport drivers will get 77.8 cubic ft. of cargo room (with rear seats folded down). That should be more than enough to store your camping gear or luggage for those out-of-town trips. It's also important to point out that you won't sacrifice anything in terms of performance. Both the standard Atlas and the Atlas Cross Sport offer drivers up to 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft. of torque. Additionally, gas mileage stays the same at 21 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Drivers of the VW Atlas Cross Sport will also get an advanced suite of driver assistance and convenience features. VW IQ.DRIVE includes the following features: Travel Assist Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Active Blind Spot Monitor Rear Traffic Alert Front Assist Emergency Assist Lane Assist Another thing that drivers of the VW Atlas Cross Sport love is the recently redesigned myVW app, which provides drivers with convenient tools and commands, right at their fingertips. The myVW app includes: Service reminders, scheduling, and history Maintenance schedules Roadside assistance requests Remote start (if equipped) & lock/unlock Vehicle alerts Last parked location (great for large parking lots) An Industry Leading Warranty – Carefree Coverage Drivers of any late model VW vehicle will have Carefree Coverage included as their warranty. VW Carefree Coverage offers a variety of coverages that will keep your vehicle in great condition for years. It includes the following: 2 yrs. 7 Reasons Volkswagen Drivers Are Obsessed with Their Cars

Number 5 Might Come as a Bit of a Surprise to You The cool thing about Volkswagen is that it's not just a series of vehicles – it's an entire culture of drivers. When people think of VW, they think cross country travel, an elevated driving experience, and iconic hits like the VW Beetle and the VW Golf GTI. Volkswagen is one of the rare brands that is both future-forward while also being deeply rooted in nostalgia. So, why exactly do drivers love their VW vehicles? Let's break this down. #1 – They Make Some of the Best Cars in the World (Literally) One thing that's great about the VW brand is that they manufacture some of the best cars in the world. Literally. For example, the all-electric VW ID.4 was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, besting its EV counterparts and traditional vehicles alike. #2 – They Are Fuel-Efficient The VW ID.4 is obviously going to be fuel-efficient since it runs on battery, but what about our traditional vehicles? If you've been spending tons of money at the pump, you'll be pleased to find out that the 2022 VW Jetta gets 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway, easily making this one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. #3 – They Pack Performance and Speed Just because a VW is your daily driver doesn't mean it should skimp in the performance department. For those of you thrill-seekers out there, the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R packs an incredible 315 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque, easily leaving all competitors in the dust. #4 – They Accommodate Even the Largest of Families Some of you out there have big families. Really big families. And large families require the biggest vehicle that VW offers – the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas. It comfortably seats up to seven people and offers up to 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space (with rear seats folded down). If you want to be the biggest thing out there on the road, you can't go wrong with the VW Atlas. #5 – Celebrities Drive VW Vehicles Similar to how Larry David lent the Prius some star power on his show Curb Your Enthusiasm, Volkswagen has its own stable of stars and celebrities that enjoy the VW brand. Hugh Jackman, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, and Heidi Klum are just a few of the stars that you may see behind the wheel of a VW. #6 – They Come with an Industry Leading Warranty When you get a new vehicle, you want to be sure that your purchase is going to be covered on maintenance and unforeseen situations, like being stranded on the side of the road. Fortunately, Volkswagen offers an industry-leading warranty on all late model VW vehicles. Here’s a breakdown of the Carefree Coverage warranty: 2 yrs. #7 – They Are Competitively Priced One of the big things that people love about VW is that they are luxurious cars without the luxury price tag. In fact, you can get behind the wheel of a brand-new VW Jetta for right around $20,000. Furthermore, after the potential federal tax credit, drivers can purchase a Volkswagen ID.4 for as low as $29,995, making it one of the most competitively priced electric vehicles on the market. You can find the Jetta, the ID.4, and more at a Volkswagen dealership near you. Ready to Shop for New Cars for Sale in Houston? VW Cypress Has You Covered! Is There an All-Electric Tiguan in the Works?

And Where to Find New Cars for Sale in Houston That Are Eco-Friendly By now, you've at least heard of the Volkswagen ID.4. It was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award and other notable accolades that made it a certified game-changer in the electric vehicle market. It's by far and away one of the hottest new cars for sale in Houston, especially now with gas prices being much higher than they were last year. The VW ID.4 showed drivers and the automobile industry that Volkswagen is not only ready to throw their hat in the EV ring – they’re ready to dominate. In addition to having a gorgeous future-forward design in both the interior and exterior, the VW ID.4 does eco-friendly drivers justice by providing up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model). That's more than enough to get Houston residents through their weekly commuting with mileage left to spare. It also provides drivers with up to 295 horsepower and up to 339 lb-ft. of torque, disproving the rumor that electric vehicles lack performance. The VW ID.4 also happens to be one of the most affordable new cars for sale in Houston in the electric category. With a starting MSRP of $41,230 ( as low as $33,730 after potential federal tax credit), there's never been a better opportunity to make a switch over to electric. With the success of the Volkswagen ID.4, industry experts and drivers alike are wondering what's next for VW in the electric category. It very well might be a familiar face we've all seen before – the VW Tiguan. Is the Tiguan Going Electric? It Sure Seems That Way There are a lot of rumors that get circulated in the automobile world, so we always reserve our reporting on concept vehicles and new electric cars until we’ve seen some definitive proof. It's also worth noting that many vehicles go into the concept phase but never make it to production. This is either due to the expense of manufacturing the vehicle, engineering challenges, sourcing issues, and several other reasons. In the auto world, don't ever expect a vehicle to officially roll out until it's confirmed by the manufacturer. Although it seems like our other electric vehicles in the queue will be going into production, you just never know in this business. The VW ID.Buzz, the ID.Aero, and the ID. LIFE are all at different phases of production. Only time will tell if they officially get released. The same can be said for the rumors currently circling around the VW Tiguan. What's interesting about this story is that the Tiguan is not a brand-new vehicle like the other VW electric car concepts. This would be a conversion of an existing vehicle that’s going from gas-powered to electric. From the perspective of a car manufacturer, this is a cost-effective move because it's much easier to convert an existing vehicle than it is to build a new one from scratch. New electric cars require a significant investment. Keeping that in mind, it does appear that VW is working on an electric version of the Tiguan. Spy photographers have captured clear photos of a Tiguan prototype that's currently being tested. What makes people think that this version is an EV is that it doesn't have any tail pipes and the front grill is closed off to most of the air intakes. At the very least, this new Tiguan is a hybrid, but very likely a full-on EV. Another reason why people are sold on the rumor that the Tiguan will go electric is that there have been multiple sightings in multiple locations of this prototype. This leads us to believe that Volkswagen is seriously considering putting an all-electric VW Tiguan into production once they complete their testing and iron out the performance and design aspects. That Tiguan could very well be one of the next VW electric cars for sale; however, considering the stage of testing that they're at, don't expect to see one on a car lot until at least a couple of years from now. These things take time, but good things come to those who wait. Looking for VW Electric Cars for Sale in Houston? Visit VW Cypress! For those who have been wondering what the hype is all about surrounding the VW ID.4, we encourage you to come down and test drive it for yourself right here at VW Cypress. Or, you can build one out yourself, which allows you to select your trim level and any optional features that you may want included. In addition to never having to pay for gas ever again, this vehicle packs a ton of power under the hood, and it has one of our most advanced feature packages of any VW. The VW Cypress dealership is located at 19550 Northwest Fwy in Houston. You can also call us at (281) 532-8824 or e-mail us directly using the contact form on our website. VW Electric Semis Are Entering the Market

What This Means for VW and Where to Find New Cars for Sale in Houston from Volkswagen If you've been shopping for new cars for sale in Houston in recent months, chances are, you've already heard about the game-changing all-electric Volkswagen ID.4. Winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, it is the resident crown jewel for VW in the electric vehicle space. Not only did it best every other heavy hitter in the EV category, it surpassed all traditional vehicles that run on gasoline. Although the VW ID.4 was the first VW electric car for sale by the Volkswagen group, the plan was always to go bigger and better with its offering of electric vehicles. There are several other electric vehicles that Volkswagen plans to roll out. Some of the top names include the VW ID. LIFE, the VW ID. Aero, and the VW ID. Buzz. However, there is some news coming down the pipe that VW has something even bigger planned. In fact, this electric vehicle would be so big it would not even be sold at a Volkswagen dealer near you. We're talking, of course, about electric semi-trucks. Volkswagen has big plans to change the game again with a lineup of electric semis. What’s the Latest News on VW Semis? According to Auto Week, European truck maker MAN is going to be making the transition over to electric when it comes to semi-trucks. For those not familiar, MAN is part of the Traton Group, which is owned by Volkswagen. Roughly a year ago, MAN opened its eMobility Center at its Munich plant. According to Michael Kobriger, board member for production and logistics at MAN Truck & Bus, "We're using the MAN eMobility Center to develop the skills needed to take our e-trucks into series production. It's where employees at the Munich factory will be qualified in future technologies under real production conditions." As it stands, the goal is to have these electric semi-trucks in small-series production by 2023 followed by full-scale production by the year 2024. The truck maker spent the last year refining and improving their process assembling vehicle battery packs. These packs should yield a range of somewhere between 372 to 497 miles. The truck maker is already showing major progress having produced at least 20 different prototypes of electric semi. MAN currently has electric buses and vans in production, but electric semi-trucks would be a huge game-changer for both MAN and VW. It would cut down on fuel budgets and be a big step toward reducing carbon emissions, which is a goal that VW is keeping top of mind. However, there is quite a bit of work that needs to be done before the goal becomes a reality. Gas-powered trucks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The initial roll-out of all-electric semi-trucks will be a test to see if they have the performance capabilities to one day replace diesel-fueled semis. These electric semi-trucks will need to be road-tested extensively to see if that’s even possible. The History of the VW Golf GTI

Breaking Down the Evolution of This Game-Changing Vehicle Every great vehicle has its humble beginnings, and the VW Golf GTI is no exception. Originally kicking off in the mid-1970s, the VW Golf GTI has set the standard for what a speedy, small compact car can do when it's outfitted with sizable power under the hood. Although many of the following will not be available at a Volkswagen dealership near you, it is fun to take a trip down memory lane to reminisce about some of these amazing vehicles that changed the landscape in modern driving. 1976 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 1) The birth of a legend in the making. The VW Golf GTI hit the market with a 1.6L inline-four engine yielding 110 horsepower and speeds up to 110 mph, making it speedier than the entry-level Porsches of the day. 1985 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 2) The second VW Golf GTI kept roughly the same design scheme, however, it was given a little boost in the performance department. The Mark 2 provided drivers with 137 horsepower with the 16-valve version. 1991 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 3) The third generation VW Golf GTI saw some design advancements that made the vehicle sleeker and more modern. The engine also got an upgrade with a 2.0L in-line four that yielded 115 horsepower. 1997 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 4) The VW Golf GTI Mark 4 went on to become the best-selling vehicle in Europe in 2001. Both the wheelbase and the length of the car grew slightly, and the car gained a good 200 pounds of curb weight. The Mark 4 got a lot of comparisons in the press to BMW. It was initially offered with two different engines: a 2.0L 4-cylinder and a 2.8L narrow-angle VR6 that yielded up to 174 horsepower. 2004 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 5) It took a while, but VW finally released a brand-new Golf GTI for the new millennium in 2004. It was the first GTI to offer a 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), which earned the vehicle plenty of rave reviews from critics. The car could go from zero to 60 in 6.9 seconds when using DSG. It also had a top speed of 146 mph, officially granting it “speedy whip” status in automobile circles. 2009 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 6) Drivers didn't have to wait as long this time to receive the next iteration of the VW Golf GTI. The chassis development was supervised by German racing legend Hans-Joachim Stuck. The Mark 6 came with a 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine that yielded 210 horsepower in international markets (200 in the U.S.). This iteration of the VW Golf GTI also received a considerable facelift with a new honeycomb grille and dual exhaust at the corners of the rear bumper. 2013 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 7) In a big change for the Volkswagen Golf GTI lineup, the Mark 7 was the first to be lighter in curb weight than its predecessors. The redesign also saw some structural redesigns to strengthen its build for better handling with significant bumps in performance. The vehicle could get up to 230 horsepower with the Performance Package model. Drivers were able to hit 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds. The Mark 7 would see several different facelifts during its reign as king of the compact vehicles in the VW stable. 2021 - VW Golf GTI (Mark 8) The most recent form for the VW Golf GTI is offered as a four-door hatchback for the first time in its illustrious history. As you'd expect, VW designers and engineers pulled out all the stops when it came to redesigning this staple in automobiles. The future-forward design and elegant feature package makes it a force to be reckoned with on the road. It yields 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque. There are few opponents on the road more formidable than the Mark 8. Looking for the Latest VW Golf GTI? Find it at a Volkswagen Dealership Near You! 4 Things to Know When Buying a Used Car

How to Prepare – and Get a Good Deal – Before You Purchase a Used Car We get it, there’s nothing like buying a brand new car knowing you’re the only one that has been behind the wheel. Not to mention, new cars are up-to-date on the latest technology and safety features. They’re also secured with a warranty that’s sure to last you a few years. There’s only one problem when it comes to purchasing a brand new vehicle – price. In today’s economy, some people just can’t realistically handle a huge car payment. For this reason, many people are perfectly content owning a used car. It’s common knowledge that new cars are likely to depreciate about 20% during their first year. Strategic drivers avoid this issue by only browsing previously owned vehicles. If you do your research and have a plan, you can score a really great deal on a used car. Start now by simply searching “used car dealerships near me.” You’ll be surprised how many options there are. It can be overwhelming at first, so it’s important to have a strategy as you explore. Follow these 4 tips before you purchase a used car. Set A Budget The first step to any big purchase is to establish how much you’re looking to spend. When deciding this, consider it from both a monthly and an overall standpoint. As you shop around, remind yourself of those numbers to ensure that you’re staying on the right track. If you’re shopping online, you might want to filter the results by price range. This will guarantee you’re only looking at used cars that are in your price range. Determine the Actual Cost of the Vehicle As you search for your used car, keep in mind that the price up front isn’t always exactly what you’ll be paying. Other fees could come into play later and alter the cost. Interest on car payments and insurance are just a few examples of fees that will be applied later. Don’t forget about routine maintenance or repairs, either. They can sneak up on you. Using an online payment estimator can help account for these variables and allow you to stay within budget. Plan How You’ll Pay for the Vehicle Now that you’ve established your budget, it’s time to think about how you’re going to pay for your new car. If you plan to use cash, you’re all set. If not, it’s important to start thinking about financing as soon as possible. It’s a good idea to get in touch with your bank or credit union and inform them that you’re searching for a used car. Ask about what financing options are available to you. Receiving a pre-approved loan also proves to a car dealership that you’re ready to make your purchase and are serious about it. It may even help you negotiate a lower price on your used car. Know the History of the Car You shouldn’t buy a car without learning more about it beforehand. Once you find a used car that not only catches your eye, but also fits within your budget, it’s time to do some research. First, set up a test drive to actually get behind the wheel. Use your test drive to feel how the car operates. Make sure to drive it through neighborhoods and on the highway. Pay attention to how it brakes and accelerates. Think about whether or not you could see yourself driving this vehicle everyday. You’ll also want to educate yourself on the vehicle’s history. Ask plenty of questions regarding how many owners the used car has had, repairs that have been made, and if it's ever been in an accident. Find Your Used Car at a Volkswagen Dealership Near You Now that you know how to effectively shop for a used car, you can begin looking. Simply search “used car dealerships near me” to hone in on dealerships in your area. It’s likely that a Volkswagen dealership near you will pop up. volkswagen group joins irma

A Big Step Forward: Volkswagen Joins IRMA

Our Promise to Responsible Supply Chain Management and Employee Safety Whether you drive one yourself or are just an automotive enthusiast, you may be familiar with Volkswagen’s first all-electric vehicle, the VW ID.4, that was released last year. Not only is it one of the most thrilling models that Volkswagen has ever produced, but it was also named the winner of the 2021 Car of the Year Award. Being an electric vehicle manufacturer requires Volkswagen to source materials for undoubtedly one of the most important components of the ID.4 model – the battery. To remain a leader in the EV world, Volkswagen must responsibly source various materials that are included in the battery such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite. You’ll be happy to hear, Volkswagen - and by extension, your Volkswagen dealer - are already on it. Earlier this year, Volkswagen Group joined the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance, or IRMA. So, what does this mean? Follow along to learn more about IRMA, and what you can expect from Volkswagen going forward. What is IRMA? IRMA is an organization that ensures mining and sourcing of raw materials is completed in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. It aims to promote business integrity and plan for positive legacies. IRMA certifies that companies in jewelry, electronics, construction, and auto are purchasing minerals that were mined responsibly. Aside from this, IRMA’s overall mission is to not only protect individuals within the mining industry, but also reduce the environmental impact of mining. Its standards encompass protecting human and community rights, health protection of workers and relevant communities, safety within the workplace, exclusion of corruption, and environmental protection. IRMA is known to be highly credible and comprehensive, as it leads both companies and nonprofit organizations, including Volkswagen. Aimee Boulanger, Executive Director of IRMA, greeted Volkswagen by saying, “We welcome the Volkswagen’s Group membership and look forward to working with them as they leverage their significant global reach to advance more responsible mining practices.” What This Means for Volkswagen So, what does this mean for VW as a company and your Volkswagen dealer? By joining IRMA, Volkswagen is committing to apply the IRMA standards within its battery supply chains over time. Murat Aksel, Volkswagen Group’s Board Member for Purchasing, revealed that the auto manufacturer is welcoming transparent rules. He also expressed that IRMA incorporates all the important components of the supply chain: raw material suppliers, raw material buyers, workers’ representatives, civil society forces, investors, and independent experts. Pledging to IRMA is essential for Volkswagen as it produces several other electric vehicles to join the VW ID.4 in the future. These electric vehicles that are currently in the development stage will follow the trend of offering climate-neutral mobility. It guarantees that they will source these current and upcoming vehicles in a proper and sustainable way. Since 2020, Volkswagen has offered full exposure of the entire supply chain, including its mining and new contracts for battery raw materials. It also launched a standardized raw material management system that is still in use today. Volkswagen Group was the first automotive company to publicly disclose a separate report that described the group-wide measures being taken for responsible sourcing of 16 raw materials. Find the Perfect Electric Vehicle for This Summer

Achieve Efficiency and Sustainability When You Use Your Volkswagen Electric Car On Your Next Road Trip It’s no secret that gas prices have been on the rise, forcing you to set aside more money to fill up your vehicle than you originally bargained for. This can be especially inconvenient if you're in the middle of planning a family road trip for summer break where you’ll be making frequent stops to fill up your tank. Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to switch to a VW electric car for sale, like the Volkswagen ID.4. Before you make the switch, it’s important to research all the offerings of new electric cars and what brands are most reliable. We’ll give you a head start. Your Volkswagen dealer can help. Explore Volkswagen’s Electric Car Model For starters, Volkswagen’s first electric car, the ID.4, was the 2021 winner of the World Car of the Year award. In addition to having the latest suite of safety and convenience features, the VW ID.4 can drive up to 275 miles on a single charge. That should be more than enough to get you through the workweek. However, if you’re making summer travel plans from Houston, you should be able to confidently drive to places like Austin, San Antonio, and Lafayette with no stops if you leave with a full battery. Additionally, this VW electric car for sale is one of the most competitively priced on the market with a starting MSRP of $41,2302 (as low as $33,730 after potential federal tax credit). Visiting a Volkswagen dealer near you, like VW Cypress, can help expedite your switch to a new electric car. However, we have plenty of used cars as well that run on gas, just in case you’re not ready to make the leap to EV. Regardless of whether you decide to go with a used car or one fresh out of the factory, your Volkswagen electric car will integrate efficiency and sustainability. Once you switch to an electric car, you won’t ever want to go back. Learning More About Your New Electric Car First, let’s clarify how an electric vehicle actually works. Rather than using an internal combustion engine, these types of cars are powered by an electric motor that is battery operated. In lieu of filling up your vehicle with gas, you charge it. Before you find an electric car to call your own, it’s beneficial to learn more about all it can do, along with the other perks of owning an electric vehicle. Of course, the biggest benefit to owning an electric car is that it's better for the environment because there isn’t fuel being polluted into the air. And since electric cars don’t require fuel, you’ll also save a ton of money on gas. Electric cars also don’t need as much maintenance compared to cars that feature a combustion engine. Motors found in electric vehicles have less parts, ultimately leading to a reduced need for service and maintenance. Charging Your Volkswagen Electric Car You can drive across the country with an electric vehicle. Electrify America, one of the top brands for EV charging stations, can be found in a plethora of states and has plans to spread even more throughout the country. Did you know that some hotels even offer charging stations for your electric vehicle? Once you’re done exploring for the day, just charge it overnight to prepare for your next adventure. Some establishments also have charging stations in their parking lot. These are convenient because your car will be able to charge while you shop or dine. However, be cautious of what charging station you use. They aren’t all the same, and there are three different types out there. The first tier is the slowest and can be compared to a standard 120-volt plug. You might want to avoid this kind if your battery is close to empty, as it may need many hours to return to a full charge. You’re more likely to find a charger that’s a part of the second level. These are able to supply your vehicle with a full battery in less than 10 hours. The cost typically varies, but is usually greatly cheaper than gas. Lastly, the third and top level, called Direct Current Fast Chargers, is your most time-effective option. These chargers can refill your battery in nearly 20 minutes, so they may come in handy when you’re in a hurry to arrive at your destination. Be sure to consider the weather when you’re behind the wheel. Electric vehicles actually lose power faster in the cold than they do in warm weather. This goes to show that there’s no better time for a summer road trip in your VW new electric car. Start at a Volkswagen Dealer Near You Don’t wait to make the switch to an electric vehicle. At VW Cypress, we have countless VW electric cars for sale just waiting to be driven. No matter if you’re looking for a used car or want to be the first owner, our Volkswagen dealer has it all. The Best Automotive Features to Look for When Buying a New Car

And How to Get a Vehicle That’s Packed with Features When Visiting Your Local Volkswagen Dealer When people shop for cars, they generally have a handful of critical items in mind that will ultimately drive their purchasing decision. For those SUV shoppers out there, it's all about getting the most amount of cargo space and power under the hood. For those shopping for speedy hatchbacks like the Golf R and Golf GTI, it’s all about speed and handling. Things like horsepower, torque, gas mileage, and other critical factors play a key role in any vehicle purchase. However, it's easy to forget that the features of a vehicle are what make it fun to drive, not to mention safer and more convenient. Just think about the first time you bought a vehicle that had Bluetooth connectivity and how quickly that made the driving experience more enjoyable. Not every feature is going to be a hit, but there are a fair few that warrant your consideration the next time you're shopping for a new vehicle. We'll break down some of the most popular ones, that way the next time you're at your local Volkswagen dealer, you'll know exactly what to ask for. #1 – Voice Recognition Voice recognition software has come a long way ever since those first few attempts. You may recall the debut of Siri wasn’t exactly perfect when it originally rolled out. Fast forward to today, and voice recognition software is far more advanced than it ever was. It's not just in our phones anymore. Voice recognition software is being used in devices like Google Home, Alexa, and even automobiles. So, why exactly is voice recognition such an important feature in a vehicle? Because most accidents nowadays are caused by being distracted by phone calls. If you're talking on your phone, then more than likely the road doesn't have your undivided attention. You also probably only have one hand on the wheel. However, with voice recognition software you can answer and initiate phone calls simply by using your voice. You can even dictate and send text messages without ever having to touch your cell phone. And if that weren't enough, voice recognition software allows you to ask for directions, change the radio station, and even start your vehicle. Considering the safety and convenience factor that voice recognition provides, it comes as no surprise that it's one of our most popular features here at VW Cypress. #2 – Adaptive Cruise Control By this point, you're probably already well aware of what cruise control is and how it works. You accelerate to the speed that you want to maintain, activate cruise control, and now you no longer need to apply your foot to the gas pedal. People on the highway do it all the time. However, if there's a vehicle in front of you that is not maintaining the same rate of speed that you are, then that means you may have to hit the brakes to avoid getting too close. Adaptive cruise control conveniently solves that problem. In the event that the car in front of you begins to slow down, your adaptive cruise control feature will recognize it and adjust your speed automatically without you having to get involved. This makes highway driving safer and easier. #3 – Forward Collision Warning/Avoidance Nobody wants to be involved in a collision. They're dangerous, they interrupt your life, and they threaten both you and your vehicle. This is why every major auto manufacturer has continually tried to develop ways to make driving safer and minimize the risk of collisions. Volkswagen is no different in that regard. The safety feature that they brought to the table is forward collision warning/avoidance. It works like this: if you're in danger of hitting the person in front of you, the forward collision warning (FCW) detects it. The FCW will emit sounds, flash lights, and potentially modify the tactile feel of your steering wheel or brake pedal. Forward collision avoidance will activate the FCW sensors and apply an automatic emergency brake to stop the vehicle if the driver does not. Many collisions occur due to lack of reaction time, poor judgment, or not paying attention to the cars in front of you. The forward collision warning/avoidance is essentially the safety net for when the human element fails. 2022 VW Taos in Cornflower Blue driving the prairie

Let’s Review the 6 Volkswagen Models That Made Car and Driver Editors’ Choice List for 2022

Our Top Vehicles that Made the Cut and How to Test Drive Them at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer If it's one thing that we love here at Volkswagen, it's a bit of good press. It's always reassuring to know that drivers and reviewers are enjoying your vehicles just as much as you'd hoped. As your local Volkswagen dealer here in Houston, we always strive to show our customers the perfect vehicle that matches up with their driving style, family dynamic, and budget. However, sometimes the press does the heavy lifting for us, and they showcase some of our best vehicles on our behalf. That’s exactly the case here with the Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice List in which no less than six VW vehicles made the cut. The next time you’re at a new car dealership near you, keep the following six VW vehicles in mind for a test drive. #1 – Volkswagen ID.4 (Electric SUV category) What the critics said: After all the hard work VW engineers and designers put into their debut electric vehicle, it’s good to know the critics gave the VW ID.4 glowing remarks. They praised the ID.4 for its ample storage space, smooth driving style, ease of use, and extensive single-charge driving range. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: The interesting thing about the VW ID.4 is that it has already won one of the industry's highest honors. We’re referring, of course, to the 2021 World Car of the Year Award. The VW ID.4 bested vehicles in the electric and non-electric categories alike. If gas prices are getting you down, there's never been a better time to consider making a switch over to an electric vehicle. The VW ID.4 Pro Model gets up to 280 miles on a single charge, which should be more than enough to get you through the work week. With the starting MSRP of $41,230 ( $33,730 after potential federal tax credit), this also happens to be one of the most competitively priced electric vehicles on the market. #2 – The Volkswagen Golf R (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: Reviewers praised the VW Golf R for its handling and snappy performance while remaining understated and practical. They called the Golf R the “hot hatch for mature driving enthusiasts.” A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: We're inclined to agree with the critics on this one. The Volkswagen Golf R is indeed a zippy vehicle that knows how to handle itself out on the road. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission with R-performance torque vectoring 4MOTION all-wheel-drive delivers a driving experience few other cars can rival. You’ll also have a whopping 295 lb-ft. of torque and 315 horsepower at your disposal. #3 – Volkswagen Golf GTI (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: What you have to keep in mind about the Volkswagen Golf GTI is that this is actually the 8th iteration of this particular model. The pressure is on to come up with something bigger and better every time. Fortunately, reviewers were impressed that the Mk8 continued to improve upon the previous model. It's quicker and lighter and yet somehow remains a practical daily driver. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: So, you've probably noticed by now that there are a couple Volkswagen Golf vehicles in the mix. They're both speedy hatchbacks, so it's easy to get them mixed up. As far as performance goes, the Golf R is the clear winner. However, the Golf GTI isn’t far behind. It packs 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque. The other great thing about the Golf GTI is the price point. You can claim this speedy hatchback for starting MSRP of under $30,000. You can check out the Golf GTI right now by visiting the Volkswagen dealership near you right here at VW Cypress. #4 – Volkswagen Jetta GLI (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: Reviewers enjoyed the upscale feature package that's included with the Jetta GLI. They also complimented the fun driving style and unexpected practicality, saying it would be difficult to find a sedan that's more fun to drive than the Jetta GLI. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: VW set out to make an impression with the Jetta GLI, and based upon the feedback, it appears their efforts have paid off. The 2.0L Turbo engine and 228 horsepower with 258 lb-ft. of torque provides a speedy experience not often seen with sedans. And with a starting MSRP of just $31,295, you can see why customers are flocking to this fun and sophisticated vehicle. #5 – Volkswagen Tiguan (Compact SUV category) What the critics said: As expected, reviewers praised the Tiguan for its massive cabin space, which is nearly 74 cubic feet (with seats folded down). They also praised the elegant design, sporty handling, and refined driving experience that Tiguan offers. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: Customers love the Tiguan because it takes all the standard elements of an SUV and elevates them with upscale features and design elements that only VW can offer. If you're looking for the perfect vehicle for a big family getaway or group camping trip, then look no further than the Tiguan. It was born to carry big groups in style. #6 – Volkswagen Taos (Subcompact SUV category) What the critics said: The VW Taos – the smallest SUV in our lineup – made a positive impression with reviewers for having a huge backseat and ample cargo room, despite its overall size. They also remarked on the great fuel economy (28 city/36 highway), which is a huge plus for drivers trying to save money at the pump. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: Although the Taos is the smallest of the VW SUV lineup, it still delivers many of those classic SUV hallmarks. You'll get plenty of storage and space, of course. However, since the Taos is a subcompact SUV, you'll notice that it's a little bit more agile on the road than some of the bigger SUVs. Another big win for the Taos is that it has a low cost of ownership. The great fuel economy and the starting MSRP of $23,495 make the Taos the most budget-friendly SUV that we offer. Visit Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Today at VW Cypress! Now that you know which VW vehicles are racking up praise from the critics, the next step is for you to check out one or two of these vehicles in person so you can see if they live up to the hype.
