VW ID.Buzz

A Bold New Statement in EV Vehicles Coming to a Volkswagen Dealer Near You

If you’ve been browsing terms like “new car dealerships near me,” then you already know Volkswagen carries a highlight reel of sedans and SUVs that are designed to turn heads in traffic. Are you looking for the perfect small and speedy whip that’ll tear through hairpin turns like tissue paper? Our Golf GTI has you covered. What about a super-sized behemoth of an SUV with enough interior space to handle even the largest of families? The seven-seater VW Atlas is the perfect SUV for you. Thinking about finally making the switch to electric? The eco-friendly VW ID.4 is your answer to finally getting away from those budget-busting gas pumps. It was also recently named the 2021 World Car of the Year.

Here at Volkswagen Cypress, we have cars and SUVs for everyone. And we’re so excited about what Volkswagen has planned for the future. If you haven’t yet heard about the upcoming VW ID.Buzz, then we’re here to tell you the future looks very bright.

The VW ID.Buzz – From Concept to Reality

When Volkswagen originally released the all-electric VW ID.4, that marked our first official effort in the EV space. Fortunately, we knocked that one out of the park and it’s been next to impossible to keep these on the lot. They’re THAT popular. However, the VW ID.4 was never intended to be a one-and-done or a “let’s wait and see how this one pans out” type of vehicle.

The plan has always been to grow our presence in the EV space, one fantastic vehicle at a time. The VW ID.Buzz is shaping up to be our next big thing. Nostalgically modeled after the classic VW Type 2 Microbus (aka the VW Bus), the VW ID.Buzz borrows design elements from generations past with a future-forward spin that’s sure to please those looking for a vehicle with a contemporary vibe. It’s totally retro and trendsetting at the same time. It reinvents the idea of the common van, elevating it to something car-buyers will look up and take notice of.

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait – What to Expect from the VW ID.Buzz

Concept vehicles are a lot like Marvel movie trailers: they cause a lot of wild speculation after only offering a small sample. That has been the case so far with the VW ID.Buzz ever since it debuted at the Detroit Auto Show way back in 2017. Based on the very little people have seen thus far, we have a pretty solid idea of the direction Volkswagen wants to take this elongated all-electric concept.

  1. Expect an improvement in single charge distance over the VW ID.4: The VW ID.4 affords drivers about 260 on a single charge – which is good – but Volkswagen wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t upping the ante with their next generation of EV vehicles. Although not officially confirmed, it’s expected that the ID.Buzz will use a bigger battery pack, which would in turn offer more mileage. Just like the Type 2 Microbus of old, VW is angling for the ID.Buzz to be a family-friendly cross country traveler.
  2. Preliminary reports indicate the ID.Buzz will be available in two models: A few spec models have been showcased for both the European market and U.S. buyers. As of right now, U.S. spec models indicate the ID.Buzz will be available in a base model that’s rear-wheel drive (200 horsepower) and an upgraded all-wheel drive dual motor model (300 horsepower).
  3. The ID.Buzz will reach U.S. Volkswagen dealers like Volkswagen Cypress by 2023: Out of all the speculation that’s floating around out there about the VW ID.Buzz, the release timeframe is one of the few bits of info that Volkswagen has confirmed. The 2024 model should arrive on U.S. shores by 2023. So, if you’ve been holding out for an electric and future-forward rendition of a van, you only need to hold out about a year longer.

A Side-by-Side Volkswagen Atlas Comparison

Trying to choose between two Volkswagen SUVs for sale is like trying to choose between BBQ brisket and ribs. You really can’t go wrong with either option. It just comes down to a matter of preference.

That’s the exact position we find ourselves in when comparing the 2022 VW Atlas vs. the 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport. They’re both SUVs, they both pack a lot of convenience and safety features, and they both have a ton of power under the hood. So, what’s the difference between these two VW SUVs? Are they really just two sides of the same coin? Let’s break this down.

Volkswagen Atlas vs. Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport At-a-Glance

To start out, let’s do a side-by-side comparison of the main specs to give you an idea of how these two Atlases measure up against each other.

The Main Takeaways on the Volkswagen Atlas Comparison

Although both vehicles fly under the same VW Atlas banner, there are some distinct differences between the standard Atlas and the Cross Sport. At first glance, the sticker price slightly leans in favor of the Cross Sport…but only slightly. The difference between the two is practically negligible; however, when you consider the Cross Sport’s slightly more efficient fuel economy along with its leaner curb weight (another fuel economy advantage), it becomes clear that the Cross Sport is the clear choice for the price conscious VW SUV driver.

With the VW Atlas’s higher sticker price does come some unique advantages. Although both vehicles run on the same engine, the Atlas eclipses the Cross Sport in terms of horsepower and torque. Additionally, the Atlas can seat two additional passengers compared to the Cross Sport and has far more cargo space. If you’ve got a big family or find yourself going on cross-country trips that require a lot of luggage or gear, the VW Atlas is probably going to be your best bet.

It’s like we said earlier…you really can’t go wrong with either VW SUV. It’s all a matter of what your personal preferences are.

Safety and Convenience Features

When making the VW Atlas vs. VW Atlas Cross Sport comparison, many of the differences apply to performance, pricing, and dimensions. As far as safety and convenience features are concerned, it’s a close race between the two.

Safety features such as blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic warning, and forward collision warning with mitigation are standard on both of the Atlas models. The same can be said for much of the features. For instance, both base trim levels of the VW Atlas and VW Atlas Cross Sport feature a 6.5” touchscreen receiver that has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto along with the Volkswagen super slick and convenient Car Net app. As with any VW vehicle, the higher the trim level you select, the more features you can expect. If you were to go with the highest trim level for either vehicle, your stereo would be upgraded to a 12-speaker Fender system.

The VW Electric Car for Sale That Everyone (Including Santa) is Talking About

When Santa makes his rounds this year in Texas, he might not arrive in his normal sleigh led by Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. He might just show up in the Volkswagen ID.4, which was named as the 2021 winner of the World Car of the Year. After all, it’s got 64.2 cubic ft. of cargo space for holding bags of toys for everyone that made it on his “Nice” list. It also has been independently tested and verified to go 260 miles on a single charge, which makes it a leading performer in the EV world.

Ah, who are we kidding? We can’t picture Santa driving an SUV. That’s just not his style!

We can, however, see him delivering a few VW electric cars to the lucky people of Houston. Ever since the ID.4 was announced and made available on pre-order, we’ve been ho-ho-hoping to get a few on our lot well before holiday lights started popping up around Houston. Thankfully, VW Cypress now has the Volkswagen ID.4 for sale and ready for you to test drive.

Is this your first time hearing about the VW ID.4? Allow us to fill you in on some of the highlights about this award-winning all-electric vehicle.

Sleigh All Day in the Brand-New VW ID.4

When customers and reviewers talk about the VW ID.4, we obviously get a lot of questions about it. After all, we’re the company mainly known for the Beetle and the Golf GTI. Going electric for us was not only out of character, but a little bit of a risk as well. So, when people ask us, “Why didn’t you release an electric car sooner?” the answer is pretty simple.

We wanted to get it right the first time. Actually, getting it right wasn’t good enough…we wanted to get it as close to perfect as possible.

We knew the two main concerns consumers would have going into this. Electric vehicles are either too expensive or don’t get enough miles on a single charge. In fact, you can easily spend over $100K on a new Tesla.

With the VW electric car, we wanted to find the balance between affordability, performance, and practicality. As we mentioned earlier, the VW ID.4 gets approximately 260 miles on a single charge. It’s also already been tested and verified to go on a 6,700-mile road trip through another independent test, which is why many reviewers are calling the ID.4 one of the most reliable EV vehicles in its class.

With a starting MSRP of $39,995, it drastically undercuts those pricey Teslas. You can get the ID.4 for as low as $32,495 after the potential federal tax credit. Factor in all the money you’re going to save at the pump, and you can begin to see why going electric is a worthwhile investment.

Charging Up the VW ID.4

You know the VW ID.4 has great range on a single charge, and you know that it can handle cross-country trips. Naturally, you’re probably wondering, “How quickly does the ID.4 charge up?”

Volkswagen has put in the work to make the charging process as convenient as possible for ID.4 owners. Level 2 Home Charging yields about 23 – 34 miles off a one-hour charge. When charging with Level 3 DC Fast Charging, you’ll get about 62 miles after just ten minutes.

Charging times will vary slightly by model, but making sure that both driving range and charging times were convenient for drivers was a top priority for VW when designing the ID.4. Our advice is to charge up anytime you hit the grocery store. Even if you’re only in there for 15 – 20 minutes, you’re going to come out with much higher battery health than when you went in.

Charging a car takes a little bit of getting used to, but just think about how much you’re spending at the pump right now. Every month will feel like Christmas when you never have to buy a single drop of gasoline again.

The VW ID.4 At-a-Glance Specs and Key Features

Don’t think for a second that just because this is a VW electric car that it would somehow skimp on performance or power. Houston drivers that have gotten used to the way a traditional SUV looks and handles are in for a treat. Here is the tale of the tape for the all-new ID.4.

Engine type: electric
Horsepower: 201 hp
Torque: 228 Lb-ft.
Seating capacity: 5
Cargo volume: 64.2 cubic ft. (rear seats folded)
Length: 180.5 in.
Width: 72.9 in.
Height: 64.4 in.

Additionally, the ID.4 is so packed with features even Santa’s elves couldn’t design it with every tool in the workshop. It has wireless smartphone integration for compatible devices through App-Connect and wireless cell phone charging. It also offers Emergency Assist, Intuitive Start, Travel Assist, and Remote Access Services at no additional charge. The VW ID.4 also has some of the largest screen real estate with the touchscreen clocking in at 12 inches. It’s future-forward in every sense of the word.

Ready to Test Drive the VW ID.4? Come on Down to VW Cypress!

Now that the Volkswagen ID.4 is for sale, it truly feels like Christmas has come early. So, what’s the next step? A test drive, of course! Custom build and order your own ID.4 right from VW Cypress website.

You know the saying. Everything’s bigger in Texas.

We take that to heart here at Volkswagen Cypress, which is home to some of the most impressive vehicles that have ever travelled the historic streets of Houston. The Volkswagen Atlas – Convenience and Safety Features Galore

In the true spirit of VW, the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is everything you’d expect out of one of the nation’s top midsize SUVs. It’s tough and ruggedly built while also remaining quick and nimble for those times when you need to get from zero to sixty in a hurry.

And what VW SUV would be complete without a wealth of safety and convenience features? The highest trim level of the Atlas (SEL Premium R-Line) features App-Connect with wireless capability, a Discover Media touchscreen navigation system with 8” color display, multiple USB-C charging ports, remote start, SiriusXM with 360L (3-month trial subscription), a wireless smartphone charger with Bluetooth technology, and Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro, which finally gives drivers a fully-digital instrument cluster.

The Volkswagen Atlas doesn’t slouch when it comes to safety features, either. The 2022 model includes a rear view camera system, safety cage, intelligent crash response system (ICRS), automatic post-collision braking system, tire pressure monitoring system, and six stability-enhancing systems, just to name a few.

When you see a Volkswagen Atlas for sale on the VW Cypress lot, you’re not only getting one of most fun and affordable midsize SUVs on the market, you’re also getting a vehicle that keeps safety top-of-mind at all times.

With the Volkswagen Atlas You’re Always Covered

2 yrs. Service – Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles)
3 yrs. Help – Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles)
4 yrs. Coverage – New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles)

A Preview of What’s to Come in the VW Line of Electric Vehicles

In the automobile industry, you constantly need to be thinking twenty moves ahead. It’s a big game of chess that every major auto manufacturer is playing. Here at Volkswagen Cypress, we’re not only concerned with what drivers want right now, but what they’ll want several years from now. Case in point, Volkswagen knew eventually the country would start to make a shift over to electric vehicles. However, up until recently, owning one wasn’t practical for most people. High prices for EV vehicles along with small driving ranges on a single charge made switching over to electric a hard pill for consumers to swallow.

Rather than rush an electric vehicle to market, Volkswagen waited and carefully developed the VW ID.4, which recently won the 2021 World Car of the Year Award. That’s our style here at VW. We’re more concerned about being the best on the market – not necessarily the first.

Now that the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 is out in the wild and finally persuading new car buyers to consider shifting to a VW electric car, we’ve got our sights set on the next phase. Consider this a preview of things to come. Today we want to talk about the VW ID. LIFE and three reasons why it’s going to be worth the wait.

What is the VW ID. LIFE?

Originally introduced at the Munich Auto Show in September, the Volkswagen ID. LIFE is the next iteration of VW electric cars – a worthy sequel to the award-winning ID.4. It is a subcompact SUV that is designed for urban travel that is aiming to go into production around 2025; however, which markets it will release in is still being decided.

Highlight #1 – The VW ID. LIFE Will Be Extremely Price-Conscious

What’s the big hold-up with people buying electric cars? For the most part, the price. Only recently did Tesla finally release a less expensive version of their own car with the Model 3, but it still clears the $40,000 benchmark.

This is something that VW has been extremely conscious about when it comes to the modern car buyer who wants to switch to electric, but can’t afford the high upfront cost or high monthly payment. That’s why the VW ID. LIFE is going to initially roll out with a starting price tag of an estimated $24,000. When it comes to selecting an electric car, Volkswagen wants to remove sticker shock from the equation with the ID. LIFE.

Highlight #2 – The VW ID. LIFE Will Be Environmentally-Friendly

We already mentioned the VW ID. LIFE will be an all-electric vehicle. That already puts it ahead of those other gas-guzzlers out there on the road. But how can we take things a step further and make it even more environmentally-friendly?

Recycled materials. Although it’s in the concept phase right now, the current VW ID. LIFE uses several different recycled and renewable materials throughout its construction. For instance, the car’s paint is colored using wood chips and the car’s roof is made from recycled bottles. Additionally, the tires are made from biologically based oils, rice husks, and natural rubber.

Highlight #3 – The VW ID. LIFE Will Be Technologically Advanced

There are a lot of fun rumors and theories going around about what the VW ID. LIFE will be and the type of features it will actually offer upon release. A few things that seem to be full steam ahead are cameras being used to replace mirrors, giving drivers high-definition images that can be adjusted in angle and zoomed in on. Additionally, the ID. LIFE will focus on smartphone integration, using the driver’s Android or Apple phone as the vehicle’s center touchscreen. Early images also show an open-topped steering wheel that has a touchscreen as the center to control driving features and its gear selector.

It’s Never Too Early to Go Electric

Whatever the Volkswagen ID. LIFE ends up being, right now it looks to be extremely promising from a pricing, design, and features perspective. And who knows…maybe the next Volkswagen electric car that goes for sale will win World Car of the Year again. We certainly hope so.

It’s going to be more than a few years before the ID. LIFE hits our showroom floors. Fortunately, we have the Volkswagen ID.4 that’s ready and waiting for test driving for all your curious drivers who have yet to sample an EV vehicle. Then you can build and reserve your own ID.4 EV right from our website, and watch it’s journey from production to our dealership with your name on it! Come visit us at the VW Cypress dealership, conveniently located at 19550 Northwest Fwy. in Houston. We also have plenty of non-EV new cars like the VW Tiguan, Taos, and gas-friendly Jetta.

Additionally, if you’ve been searching “used car dealerships near me,” VW Cypress has plenty of SUVs and used cars that are certified pre-owned and have undergone a 100+ point inspection. Make sure to check out our list of special offers as well.

How VW Makes Driving in Inclement Weather Easier and Safer

Here in Houston, we know things can get a little dicey during the rainy season. From August thru October, we have to be especially careful about heavy storms and even hurricane activity. As much as some of us would like to avoid being out on the road during these times, not everyone has that luxury. If you plan on being out on the road during inclement weather, it’s in your best interest to be in the vehicle that gives you the most control and the most comprehensive list of safety features on the market.

You may be shopping around used car dealerships looking for that perfect rainy-day vehicle; however, you don’t want to overlook the many Volkswagen SUVs that are available right now here at VW Cypress. Customers here near the Gulf in Houston, Texas are raving about how VW SUVs like the Atlas, Tiguan, and the all-new Taos are exactly what they need to handle slick roads during rough weather. Let’s break down a few reasons why your next vehicle should be a Volkswagen.

What’s Better Than All-Wheel Drive? 4Motion with Active Control

When people talk about the best drivetrain for dealing with slick, snowy, or muddy roads, you always hear them talk about all-wheel drive. However, all-wheel drive on a Volkswagen may not be the same all-wheel drive you’ve become accustomed to on your old pickup or SUV. The difference is 4Motion with Active Control.

With the old guard of all-wheel drive vehicles, the tires will spin at the same time at the same rate. In snow, ice, or mud situations, you can still spin out in place with all-wheel drive. However, with 4Motion with Active Control, our all-wheel drive system measures the speed of each individual wheel multiple times per second looking for wheel slippage and loss of grip. When the 4Motion system senses that traction is about to be lost, it engages and sends up to 50% of the engine’s power to the vehicle’s rear axle so that proper traction may be regained.

Additionally, if an individual wheel on your Volkswagen SUV starts to slip, the Electronic Stability Control will slow down that specific wheel and send more power to the wheel opposite of it that has traction. This comes in handy quite a bit for drivers who are out on wet roads on a regular basis.

Another great feature with the VW line-up of SUVs is you can select the specific mode of driving you want for any given weather pattern or driving surface. Choices include: On-Road (for regular street/highway driving), Snow, Off-Road, and Off-Road Custom.

Additional Features for Inclement Weather

One other thing to keep in mind when shopping for VW cars for sale are the variety of other features that come in handy during rainy or inclement weather. Our current Volkswagen models feature rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED headlights with all-weather lights with low-speed corner-illuminating glow, and an automatic post-collision braking system.

Newer models of VW SUVs such as the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and Taos will feature the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. You can think of it as your main terminal for the vehicle. It’ll show you route guidance, your assistance systems, elevation, and much more. Even when it’s pitch-black outside, the Digital Cockpit is well-illuminated and high-resolution for easy viewing behind the wheel. It’s also totally customizable so you can see only the menus and statuses you want to see.

Advanced Driver Assist Features

The other big problem when driving in rain or snow is visibility, and it can be extra hazardous if you’re driving at night. It’s worth noting that 21% of vehicle crashes were weather-related, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s most recent ten-year study.

When you’re out there on slick dark roads, you need all the help you can get. That’s why the newest VW cars for sale come with a full suite of driver assist features that are made to give drivers a heads-up in the event trouble is lurking in the next lane over. They include

  • Dynamic Road Sign Display: View traffic signs, posted speed limits, overtaking restrictions, and warning signs, all from your Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. Even when you can’t see the signs, our system will see them for you.
  • Blind Spot Monitor: Nothing is more dangerous than attempting to change lanes when someone is in your blind spot, especially during a storm with low visibility. With Active Blind Spot Monitor, you’ll be warned ahead of time if you’re about to change into a lane that’s already occupied by another driver.
  • Rear Traffic Alert: This feature comes in handy whenever you’re backing up, especially during a low-visibility situation. You’ll be alerted in the event any vehicles are detected behind you.
  • Light Assist: Provides the optimum high beam visibility during low-light and/or low-visibility situations. There’s nothing you need to do on your end. This feature automatically activates when you hit a speed of 37 mph.

Test Drive a Brand-New Volkswagen SUV Today!

Volkswagen SUVs aren’t just made for bad weather days. They’re meant for all 365 days of the calendar year. The best way to get familiar with any vehicle from the VW line-up is by getting behind the wheel and taking one for a spin. You can do that here at the VW Cypress dealership which is conveniently located at 19550 Northwest Fwy. in Houston.

2021 Volkswagen ID.4 ($39,995 starting MSRP)

You know you’re doing something right when you win the 2021 World Car of the Year Award, and that’s exactly what the all-new Volkswagen ID.4 has done. The ID.4 at Volkswagen Cypress is a game-changing vehicle. Unlike other EV’s it redefines the electric vehicle experience, offering power – up to 201 hp, which is bigger than anything it its class – massive torque at 228 lb-ft, plus it addresses a common complaint from other EV owners and offers longer distance without charging (260 miles on a single charge).

The ID.4 also packs a punch when it comes to features, such as wireless smartphone integration for compatible devices through App-Connect and wireless cell phone charging. It also offers Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, and Remote Access Services at no additional charge. The VW ID.4 also has some of the largest screen real estate around clocking in at 10 inches; the RAV4 and Honda CR-V only have 7-inch screens.

As far as warranty goes, the VW ID.4 has one of the best in the game with a 4-year/50,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty compared to the other SUVs we mentioned that only offer a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty (whichever comes first).

2021 VW Atlas ($31,545 starting MSRP)

The Volkswagen Atlas is an award-winning, boldly-designed SUV. The largest of the Volkswagen SUV’s, the Volkswagen Atlas fits up to 7 passengers (6 if you choose Captain’s Chairs layout) very comfortably, and is hailed for its technology, safety features, and power. With a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and up to 276 horsepower, many customers at Volkswagen Cypress prefer this SUV as the perfect family car for road trips, weekend excursions to the lake, and just day-to-day carpool duties.

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas was recently lauded for its low ownership costs compared to other midsize SUV’s. Another reason the Atlas – and all new Volkswagen models at Volkswagen Cypress – is a reliable choice is their incredible warranty, which exceeds nearly every other manufacturer. The 2020 and newer models come with a 4- year or 50,000-mile (whichever occurs first) bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, 2 years Carefree Maintenance, and 5 years of Car-Net remote access!

2021 VW Atlas Cross Sport ($30,855 starting MSRP)

The all-new Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is a safety-first sort of SUV. That much is evident when you consider that both the 2020 and 2021 models took home awards for having the highest overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The comprehensive airbag placement along with other safety features such as electronic stability control and the intelligent crash response system make this a top choice for parents who want to keep their families safe.

The VW Atlas Cross Sport features a 2.0L turbo engine (also available as a 3.6L V6) with an estimated 21 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway. It should also be mentioned that the Atlas Cross Sport has a best-in-class warranty of 4 years/50,000 miles (whichever comes first) compared to other big brands like Jeep and Honda which only offer 3 years.

2021 VW Tiguan ($25,245 starting MSRP)

A lot of people over the past couple of years have been searching “Volkswagen Tiguan for sale” to test drive this award-winning full-size SUV. The VW Tiguan won the editors’ choice award from Car and Driver, and it was also voted as a top safety pick in 2021 by IIHS. There’s a lot to brag about when it comes to the Tiguan, and big families love the fact that it can comfortably seat up to seven people.

The 2.0L turbo engine provides a ton of power for when you’re out there on the road. The fuel economy on the Tiguan is great with an estimated 23 mpg in the city and 29 out on the highway. Like the Atlas, drivers of the new 2021 VW Tiguan will get the industry-leading 4-year limited warranty with 3 years of roadside assistance and 2 years of carefree maintenance, which ensures you’re covered on VW parts when you need them.

2022 VW Taos ($22,995 starting MSRP)

If you’re a fan of the VW Tiguan, but want something more compact then the VW Taos might be the perfect SUV for you. Think of the VW Taos as a slightly smaller version of the Tiguan. You’re still going to get a ton of power and storage, but on a slightly reduced scale. Whereas the Tiguan has an optional third row, the Taos is a five-seater with 65.9 cu. ft. of cargo space if the seats are folded down.

The turbocharged engine features up to 158 horsepower, so although it’s not quite as powerful as the Tiguan, it still has enough get up and go for accelerating on the highway. Where the VW Taos wins is with gas mileage, clocking in at 28 mpg city and 36 mpg on the highway. This is by far and away one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs that VW offers.

2022 Volkswagen Golf

Getting to Know the Brand New Mk8 VW Golf

The Volkswagen Golf is perhaps one of the most revered vehicles in the entire VW catalogue. It’s fun and speedy, packing a ton of punch in minimal packaging. Although it was tailor-made to take on the narrow roads in Europe, the American market can’t get enough of the Golf. So, it’s with great pleasure that we’re finally able to announce that there’s about to be a brand-new Volkswagen Golf for sale, and it will be hitting the U.S. by Q4 of 2021.

Get ready to up the ante again. The Volkswagen Golf Mk8 is coming your way. For the upcoming release, the 2022 VW Golf will come in two models – the Golf GTI and the Golf R.

The New Golf Mk8…Similar, but Different

If you’ve seen or owned any of the prior Golf models, what you’re going to notice immediately about the new Mk8 iterations is an upgraded, sleeker and sportier look. Both the Golf GTI and Golf R have a sharply raked hood, new signature LED lights, and a light bar in the grille on either side of the updated VW logo. The distinctive C-pillar that Golf drivers know and love remains unchanged.

Their wheelbases haven’t changed since the Mk7 version, both sitting at 103.6 inches. Additionally, their physical dimensions are virtually identical to each other. The Golf GTI is 168.8 inches long and 57.6 inches in height. By comparison, the Golf R is 168.9 inches long and 57.7 inches in height. Both cars are the same exact width at 70.4 inches. On the interior of both Mk8 versions, there is 91.9 cubic ft. of space for passengers, 19.9 cubic ft. of cargo space (34.5 cubic ft. with the seats folded down).

Under the hood, the Golf GTI and Golf R feature a 2.0L turbocharged direct-injection TSI engine that can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG dual clutch automatic transmission. This makes them two of the most powerful versions of the Golf ever released to date.

Expect a more streamlined look in the Mk8 models’ interiors, although no less appealing. The typical instrument panel has been upgraded to a 10.25-inch customizable touchscreen display that allows drivers to access all their menu and infotainment options. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported by these new Golf models.

And, of course, no VW would be complete without a full suite of top-of-the-line safety features. The Mk8 Golf features IQ.Drive for advanced driver-assistance and safety aids such as lane assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.

2022 Golf GTI Highlights

There’s a lot to get excited about when it comes to the Golf GTI. Its starting MSRP for the base S trim level is $29,545, which should appeal to even the most budget-conscious car-shopper. Higher trim levels are available with the GTI SE ($34,295 starting MSRP) and the GTI Autobahn ($37,995 starting MSRP).

As previously mentioned, it runs on a 2.0L turbocharged engine with 241 horsepower (up 13 hp from the previous iteration) and 273 Lb-ft. of torque. All the GTI’s power is sent directly to the front wheels via the paddle shifters. Managing the torque steer is an electronically-controlled torque sensing limited-slip VAQ differential. This generation’s GTI can now have its traction and stability control settings adjusted by drivers, allowing for a more customized driving experience.

The look of the GTI is also highly distinctive, especially from the front. It features new X-shaped fog lights and newly designed wheels to go along with the classic honeycomb grille. Onlookers will be able to spot the GTI from a mile away.

2022 Golf R Highlights

After being out of the picture for the past three years, the VW Golf R makes a triumphant return with a bold new look and some major improvements under the hood. Drivers should expect a speedier version of the Type R they knew before with more precise handling and brand-new cabin displays.

The 2022 VW Golf R is available in one trim level with a starting MSRP of $43,645. It can be outfitted with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. Under the hood is a 2.0L turbocharged engine that features 315 horsepower and up to 295 Lb-ft. of torque. It’s a true speed demon. The standard R comes with an improved 4Motion all-wheel drive that applies the perfect amount of torque to each wheel, which yields better cornering.

Reviewers are loving the updated, more aggressive front end look of the Golf R. The LED headlights are a bit thinner and the hood is steeply raked. However, the interior doesn’t skimp on looks, either. Drivers will feel right at home in the Nappa leather-upholstered cabin.

Getting the New 2022 Golf

Although you’re probably pretty amped up to test drive the new Golf GTI or the Golf R after this preview, you’ll have to wait a bit. The new VW Golf will be for sale in Q4 of this year. At which point, virtually every VW dealership in the country should have these cars ready for test drive.

For those of you who can’t wait for the new Golf or are eyeing a larger vehicle like the Taos or Atlas, your friends at VW Cypress have both used cars for sale as well as new cars for sale. We’re located conveniently at 19550 Northwest Fwy in Houston. If that’s outside your range, simply search “VW dealership near me” and our closest locations will pop right up.

Additionally, our dealerships also include a VW service center for those that need to take their Volkswagen in for routine maintenance or service repairs. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have, and be sure to check out our specials for great deals on VW vehicles.

How Our Top SUVs Measure Up Side-By-Side

Whether you’re shopping for new cars for sale or used cars for sale, most people can agree that driving an SUV is a whole heck of a lot of fun. They’re big. They’re powerful. They make drivers feel like giants out there on the road with speed to boot. When you think of camping trips or cross-country driving, the spacious interior and hauling power of an SUV is what comes to mind, and Volkswagen has plenty to choose from in that regard.

So, how do you go about choosing the perfect SUV for you and your family dynamic? Is it all about power? Storage? Features? Fortunately, the VW line-up of SUVs gives drivers plenty to enjoy on all fronts. Let’s break these down.

The 2022 VW Taos

The VW Taos has a couple of big distinctions when comparing it to the other SUVs in our line-up. First of all, it has a starting MSRP of $22,995 for the base trim level, which makes it the most affordable of the VW SUV line-up. The other thing that sets the Taos apart is that it’s a subcompact SUV, which is perfect for those that want something bigger than a sedan but don’t want to upgrade to a full-blown SUV. The 2022 VW Taos is the happy medium – quick and speedy, but with plenty of interior space for passengers and camping equipment.

Starting MSRP (base trim): $22,995
Fuel economy: 28 city/36 highway
Engine type: 1.5L TSI

The 2021 VW Atlas

When Volkswagen originally designed the Atlas, they did so with the modern American family in mind. Unlike the small but mighty Taos, the Atlas is big. VERY big. This SUV offers a full three rows of seating, allowing for up to seven passengers in total – the perfect vehicle for those large family trips or car pools over to football practice. The Atlas was named the Family Car of the Year by Cars.com and was also named one of the top family cars by “Parents Magazine.”

Starting MSRP (base trim): $31,555
Fuel economy: 21 city/24 highway

The 2021 Atlas Cross Sport

Think of the VW Atlas Cross Sport as a slightly scaled down version of the full-sized Atlas. The Atlas Cross Sport doesn’t have the third row of seating like its larger counterpart, so it only seats five as opposed to seven. It’s also a bit shorter in length and height. However, besides the obvious size difference, the Atlas Cross Sport maintains virtually all of the features and performance aspects of the Atlas, right down to the fuel economy, horsepower, and torque. So if you want the top family car of the year in smaller packaging, the Atlas Cross Sport is the SUV for you.

The 2021 VW Tiguan

We don’t like to brag, so we’ll let Car and Driver do it for us. Regarding the VW Tiguan, they said, “It’s handsomely styled, well-equipped, and practical.” In other words, it’s one slick SUV. It was also rated as a 2021 IIHS Top Safety Pick when equipped with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) with dynamic cornering headlights. As far as size and storage goes, it’s fairly comparable to the VW Taos. The difference is that it’s got far more going on in the torque and horsepower department.

Starting MSRP (base trim): $25,245
Fuel economy: 23 city/29 highway
Engine type: 2.0L Turbo
Horsepower: 184 hp
Torque: 221 Lb-ft.
Seating capacity: 5
Cargo volume: 65.7 cubic ft. (rear seat folded)

Spacious, beautifully designed, and completely electric. No more worries about owning a gas-guzzling SUV. The ID.4 will give drivers a new lease on life when it comes to cross-country travel. In fact, it’s already been independently tested and verified to be able to travel 260 miles on a single charge. It’s one of our most reliable vehicles – electric or otherwise – that VW has ever manufactured. Still not convinced? We’ve got the accolades to back it up. The ID.4 won the World Car of the Year at the 2021 World Car Awards. Perfection doesn’t often come along, but the ID.4 is showing drivers that VW has something to say about that.

Getting to Know This High-Performance All-Electric SUV

By now, you’ve probably already heard about the brand-new 2021 Volkswagen ID.4, which is our all-electric take on the subcompact SUV. Still in its freshman year, the VW ID.4 is already making waves amongst other SUVs and electric vehicles in its class. Huge waves, really. It took top honors at the 2021 World Car Awards as the World Car of the Year. The VW ID.4 is such a popular vehicle that our initial offering is entirely sold out (don’t worry, more are on the way).

Introducing the VW ID.5 GTX

The VW ID.4 made quite the impact here in the U.S. It’s got all the power and storage of an SUV without any of the gas-guzzling qualities. It’s also packed to the gills with safety and convenience features. So, what’s stopping us from releasing a car like this overseas?

Debuting in Munich we will be showcasing the all-new ID.5 GTX. Think of this SUV as the European counterpart to the VW ID.4. With the ID.5 GTX, we’ve taken all the best parts of the ID.4 SUV and adapted it to the European market. Rather than release a carbon copy of the ID.4, we took the ID.5 GTX as an opportunity to optimize our design and improve the build of the vehicle.

Right off the bat, people will notice that the ID.5 GTX has a swooping hood, giving it more of a crossover-coupe feel compared to the ID.4 being a subcompact SUV. The ID.5 GTX is built upon the very same Modular Electric Drive Matrix architecture that the ID.4 uses, running on a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain. It should be a similar driving experience to the ID.4.

Although the numbers are preliminary and there are certain aspects of performance that may change when more data is collected, Volkswagen is currently estimating that the ID.5 GTX will be able to travel up to 309 miles on a single charge. This exceeds the expectations set by the VW ID.4, which can travel up to 260 miles on a single charge. Additionally, the ID.5 GTX boasts 299 horsepower, which means getting from 0 to 60 should take just a hair over six seconds. By comparison, the VW ID.4 has 201 horsepower. We saw room for improvements, and we made them.

The Volkswagen ID.5 GTX will officially debut at the 2021 IAA Munich Motor Show in early September. As of right now, there is no plan to release the VW ID.5 GTX in the U.S.

Searching for Cars in Your Area? Look No Further Than VW

Although the ID.5 GTX won’t be coming stateside anytime soon, there are still plenty of options to choose from when it comes to selecting your next vehicle. If you’ve been searching phrases like “used cars near me” or similar terms, then look no further. Your friends here at VW Cypress have you covered when it comes to getting the best deals on new or used Volkswagen cars and SUVs.

We have the all-electric VW ID.4 for sale for those who are ready to step into the future of automobiles and ditch the pump. We also have new and used models of the VW Jetta and the VW Tiguan for sale. Or, perhaps you want to go really big with the VW Atlas, our award-winning seven-seater SUV that parents love. No matter what your family dynamic and budget is – there’s a VW for you. Let the team at VW Cypress help find you the perfect match.

Introducing Carefree Coverage

There’s one huge benefit of going with a new VW as opposed to a used one. The Carefree Coverage option protects your investment for an extended period of time. Here’s how it breaks down. When you buy a late model VW you will be given the following suite of coverages

2 yrs. Service – Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles)
3 yrs. Help – Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles)
4 yrs. Coverage – New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles)
5 yrs. Access – Car-Net Remote Access

Although VW is known for building some of the most well-constructed cars in the auto industry, it’s nice to know that you’ve got protection. In the event you need VW parts or service, you can get all that taken care of in the VW service department. Your Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, which makes getting your car serviced simple and easy.
