VW Has a Canadian Deal in the Works to Advance Production of EV Batteries

How This Will Improve the Process of Sourcing Materials for Volkswagen Cars People are finally coming around to electric vehicles. The big catalyst was the huge spike in gas prices. That made everyone stop and think for a moment whether they could realistically afford spending upwards of $60 to $70 for a tank of gas. In fact, some SUV drivers were paying well over $100 per tank. Add inflation on top of it and you can see why drivers are reevaluating the future of their automobiles. A perfect storm is currently in effect. Used vehicles are fetching a pretty penny on the trade-in market and electric cars are now more affordable than ever. The award-winning all-electric SUV – the VW ID.4 – starts at an MSRP of $37,495 and can get up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model). That is more than enough mileage to get you through your weekly commute at a sticker price that’s well beneath the main competitors in the space. Another thing that car buyers forget about when it comes to EVs is the federal tax credit. The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 offered a tax credit up to $7,500 based on the vehicle’s gross weight rating and vehicle’s traction battery capacity. However, that only applied to vehicles that were purchased before August 17th, 2022. The future of tax credits will be a bit different moving forward. Breaking Down How EV Tax Credits Will Work in the Future Let’s say that you’re looking to go all-electric with your next Volkswagen car. That means you should get familiar with the tax credit to ensure you’re taking full advantage of it. Starting January 1st, 2023, the tax credit on electric cars is going to change slightly. It breaks down as follows: Electric vehicles that meet the critical mineral requirements are eligible for a $3,750 tax credit Electric vehicles that meet the battery component requirements are eligible for a $3,750 tax credit Electric vehicles that meet both requirements are eligible for a $7,500 tax credit However, there’s one major sticking point with this. To be eligible for these tax credits, the battery of the electric vehicle must have been sourced and manufactured in North America. Currently, a Volkswagen car wouldn’t qualify because they are assembled in Europe. However, that is set to change thanks to a couple recent maneuvers. How VW is Going to Qualify Their EVs for the Federal Tax Credit From a business and sales standpoint, you can see how important it is that Volkswagen is able to secure eligibility for the EV federal tax credit. Nobody wants to feel like they’re missing out on huge savings like that. To address this, VW has signed what’s called a memorandum of understanding with the Canadian government. This allows them to formally begin talks of bringing a portion of their electric vehicle battery sourcing and manufacturing to Canada. If VW were to be able to source their cobalt, lithium, and nickel in Canada, this would effectively satisfy one of the tax credit requirements. Regarding the other requirement pertaining to North American manufacturing, VW plans to do this in their plant which is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is being estimated by VW higher-ups that the plant will crank out over 90,000 electric vehicles in 2023, and every one of them should be eligible for the full $7,500 tax credit. vw eli partnership 2022

Volkswagen Partners with Elli to Deliver a Better Charging Experience

What This Partnership Means and Where to Find a New Volkswagen Vehicle If there's one thing that the last couple of years have taught us, it’s this – people are ready to move on from high gas prices. Some people got lucky with a work-from-home schedule, providing them a nice reprieve from their regularly scheduled visit to the gas pumps. However, other folks are on the same schedule with the same commute they’ve always had, and it’s steadily bleeding their monthly budget. Add a record high year-over-year inflation rate of over eight percent and the problem is further exacerbated. Bottom line: it costs a lot to drive these days. This is at least part of the reason the Volkswagen ID.4 – the automaker’s first foray into the electric vehicle category – has done so well. In addition to winning the 2021 World Car of the Year Award, the VW ID.4 offers drivers up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model), which is more than enough to get you through their weeks’ worth of commuting and errands. The State of Electric Vehicle Charging Although charging an electric vehicle isn’t free, it’s a far cry from what people are paying at the gas pumps. According to estimates gathered by Investopedia, charging a car runs anywhere from $10 to $30, depending on the size of the battery and the type of charger used. DC Fast Chargers, for instance, cost the most because they can completely replenish a battery in under an hour. As more people switch over to electric vehicles, they’ll get more accustomed to using electric chargers and incorporating them into their routines. The one principal drawback of going with an EV is that drivers lose the sense of immediacy when recharging. Pumping gas is clearly much quicker, and will likely remain that way for years. However, the goal is to make charging EVs cheaper, more efficient, and faster. If this can be accomplished, it may remove the one big hurdle that’s keeping people from making the switch. Another thing that’s a concern is in regards to the nation’s power grid. Some critics say the current power grid can’t support a population of drivers that is mostly EV, stoking the fear that there may be situations where vehicles would be without a power source. However, industry experts point out that electric vehicles actually support the grid since EV batteries store electricity. This means they can inject power back into the grid when it’s most needed. Additionally, major investments are being made into the nation’s power grid and infrastructure to ensure EVs are supported. The VW Partnership with Elli and What it Means Elli is Volkswagen’s charging and energy solution subsidiary that they’ve been working with to advance the integration of electric vehicles into the vehicle landscape. Through this partnership, they intend to do the following: Create incentives for electric vehicle owners Create a market that works for everyone Create a way to securely send data Ensure that data collected is secure and used responsibly Elke Temme, CEO of Elli and Senior Vice President of Charging & Energy at Volkswagen AG, said, “An essential key to achieving climate neutrality lies in linking the energy and mobility sectors. Using the electric vehicle battery as a mobile power bank delivers a triple benefit: Firstly, the climate benefits as renewable energy can be stored and therefore be used more efficiently; secondly, the electric grid benefits, as the car can contribute toward grid stability; and thirdly, the customer can earn additional revenue with vehicle-to-grid services.” By having this type of cooperation between electricity and mobility sectors, the electric vehicle market is expected to advance in a sustainable way that benefits both drivers and the power grid itself. How to Test Drive a New Volkswagen

Our Top Tips for When You Visit a Local Volkswagen Dealership Near You Visiting a new car dealership can be slightly intimidating. Do you have so many shows on your Netflix “My List” that it's hard to pick just one? It can be like that with cars, too. In fact, some new car dealerships near you in Houston have literally hundreds of vehicles in stock. So, how do you pick just one? No worries, friend. We'll field these questions and more with a breakdown of our top tips to follow when you visit your local Volkswagen dealership for a test drive. Before You Hit the Lot…Lock in on Your “Must-Have” Items When you visit a Volkswagen dealership near you, our sales associates can recommend great cars until they're blue in the face. But it's not about them – it’s about you and the car YOU want. That’s the goal here. We want to lock in on a new Volkswagen that checks all those main boxes, but every customer has a different set of boxes to check. So, take a moment and think about what’s important to you. Think about the problems you have with your current car that we can potentially solve with a VW: Are gas prices killing you at the pump? Maybe it’s time to switch over to something more fuel-efficient. Do you find yourself completely bored and uninspired during your drives? Perhaps something with an advanced infotainment package is just what the doctor ordered. Never seem to have enough space for tailgating supplies and camping trips? We have a ton of VW SUVs that can accommodate you. The moment you lock in on your must-have items is the moment the car shopping process gets a lot simpler. Take a moment to browse our new Volkswagen vehicles on our website. Customers find this tremendously helpful in figuring out the two or three cars that they're interested in test driving. Additionally, we have a payment calculator that will give you a pretty accurate estimate as to what your monthly payments will be on your new Volkswagen. This helps ensure that we don't show you anything that's outside your price range. Once you have a decent idea of the cars that look like they may be a good fit, contact our team at VW Cypress to arrange a test drive. Making an appointment allows us to set aside the exact cars you’re wanting to test drive. Getting the Most Out of Your VW Test Drive The great thing about being in the car business is that Volkswagen makes such high-quality vehicles that they practically sell themselves. It's the perfect win-win scenario. One test drive is usually all it takes for our customers to be totally enamored with their new Volkswagen. So, how do you get the most out of your test drive? After all, you don't want to overlook any important details about the vehicle. Here are our a few of our top tips: #1 – Drive How You Would Normally Drive Some test drivers have a tendency to dial back their natural driving style during a test drive. Although we don't want you driving the car like it's Formula One, we do recommend that you drive the car how you would normally drive. This is the only way to know for sure if the vehicle is going to be right for you. Don't be afraid to push the limits with a few acceleration tests out on the highway along with a few tricky turns during your drive. We want you to get a feel for the suspension and handling so that you know the car can keep up with your driving style. If the steering feels too tight or there isn't enough power under the hood – worst case scenario – we can show you another car. The entire point of test driving is to find the right fit. #2 – Ask Your Sales Associate Any Question You Want Our sales associates practically have doctorates in Volkswagen products. Their knowledge base surrounding VW cars and SUVs is unrivaled, so hit them with any question that comes to mind. Seriously, any question. They get paid to know these cars inside and out. Some topics you may want to bring up include: Performance Safety and infotainment features The difference in trim levels Cost of ownership Torque and horsepower Vehicle dimensions and cargo space A new Volkswagen should definitely address the must haves on your list, but it should also address your wants, too. Don't be afraid to test your sales associate’s knowledge with a lot of questions. A test drive means getting to know a vehicle in a short amount of time; they can help you do that. #3 – Take a Tour of the Features While test driving a new Volkswagen, you might get tunnel vision on how the car handles and performs; however, don't forget to go over one of the most important points of the vehicle – its feature package. New VW vehicles come with a wide array of infotainment, safety, and convenience features. Some of the top ones include: Rain Sensing Wipers Advanced Navigation System Keyless Entry Future forward interior accents Heated Seats and Steering Wheel Hands-Free Liftgate Forward Collision Warning Bluetooth Blind Spot Monitor Backup Camera Adaptive Cruise Control Apple CarPlay/Android Auto All new Volkswagen vehicles come with an advanced feature package, including the standard trim levels. Your VW sales associate will be happy to walk you through everything. Ready to Test Drive? Visit a Volkswagen Dealership Near You at VW Cypress! Your Definitive List of Game Day Essentials for Tailgating in Your VW SUV

And Where to Find a Volkswagen SUV When Shopping for New Cars for Sale in Houston We love game day here in Houston. Even though the Texans aren't looking like playoff contenders this year, that doesn't mean we won't win when it comes to tailgating. We practically invented the art of the pre-game party. When you hit the lot at NRG Stadium, you can see smoke all around you from the various grills and smokers that everyone has fired up. There are burgers and ribs and dogs as far as the eye can see. Not to mention, a king's ransom of adult beverages. Whether you're new to tailgating or a seasoned veteran, one thing can make or break your tailgating experience – your vehicle. Considering that everything is bigger in Texas, you'll need to go with the biggest Volkswagen SUV you can find to ensure all your tailgating essentials fit along with all your passengers. The following is our definitive list of game day essentials you'll need for your next visit to NRG stadium. #1 – A Texas-Sized Cooler The first thing that your Volkswagen SUV will need to hold is a cooler big enough to contain all your beverages and any meats that you plan on grilling. When it comes to coolers, don't be afraid to go a little bit bigger than what you think you'll need. Trust us, you'll be thankful to have the extra space. You can also save yourself a little bit of effort if you go with a cooler with wheels. It makes moving things around much easier. #2 – A Reliable Grill with All the Essentials On game day, it's not uncommon for folks to start showing up hours before the game so they can set up their grills and smokers. Although we're partial to traditional coal grilling, you can speed up the grilling process by going with a propane grill. Make sure to pack up all your grilling essentials such as seasoning and BBQ utensils. Once you're all done grilling, you can pack everything up into your VW SUV. #3 – A Super-sized Portable Speaker The roar of the crowd will be your soundtrack inside NRG stadium. Outside, however, you get to play the DJ. Do yourself a favor and invest in a powerful portable speaker with Bluetooth capability. You can stow it in the back of your VW SUV and control everything remotely from your smartphone. #4 – Canopy Tent and Chairs Now that we're officially in the fall weather season, things can get a little bit dicey from time to time when tailgating. Although we can normally rely on mild weather here in Houston, there may be the random day where you have to deal with rain. A great way to get around that is by investing in a canopy tent so that you can give your tailgating crew some coverage when it's most needed. Don't forget to invest in a few chairs so that everyone can sit comfortably underneath it. If you happen to go with a big canopy tent, make sure that your VW SUV has enough storage. the word inflation on a piece of paper

Consider Inflation: Is Now a Good Time to Buy a New or Used Car?

Tips to Use When Shopping for New Cars for Sale in Houston The past couple of years have been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for the automobile industry. When factoring in all the variables such as the pandemic, semiconductor chip shortages, overseas shipping delays, and an up-and-down economy, it all adds up to one very big problem – inflation. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), inflation for new cars is up 10.1 percent year-over-year when comparing August 2022 to August 2021. For that same time period, the BLS reports that inflation on used cars and trucks is up 7.8 percent. This has made it especially difficult for those shopping for new cars for sale in Houston. Vehicle Inflation and the CHIPS Act For new and used vehicles, inflation is up due to price increases on the production level and the shortage of semiconductor chips. However, the Biden administration has made a commitment to resolve the semiconductor chip shortage with the executive order to implement the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. The act is specifically designed to rebuild domestic supply chains, manufacturing, and the infrastructure that is required to produce essential semiconductor chips for new vehicles. What does this mean? In addition to creating domestic jobs, the CHIPS Act should get the automobile industry back on track. By extension, this should cool down inflation on new and used automobiles, although it won’t happen overnight. Experts are saying it will be a very slow process before car prices return to “normal levels” – a term that’s open to interpretation and subject to change. How to Shop for New Cars for Sale in Houston With interest rates continually on the rise, it is not as prudent as many people assume to wait for a car. The Fed has been raising rates each week, making it the smart decision to buy now before interest rates go up. Furthermore, trade values for your current car have never been higher, making it a really good time to make an upgrade for many folks. There are definitely ways to shop for new cars for sale in Houston for consumers who are conscious of their budget. For those who are in the market for a new car, focus on getting a low interest rate, a low monthly payment, a great warranty, and a high value on your trade-in. Regarding that last item, used cars are selling for much higher than normal, so you should be able to get a good deal on that front. It's also worth noting that some dealerships will allow you to extend the terms of your loan to decrease your monthly payment, which many borrowers find helpful. Another thing that savvy car buyers look into is the overall cost of ownership on a vehicle. Things like gas, maintenance, and the cost of repairs all add up. A list provided by Savvy (Sept. 2022) broke down the top 30 most expensive brands of cars to maintain over the first ten years of ownership. Brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz were at the top of the list, costing owners $26,364 and $19,106 respectively. By comparison, Volkswagen ranked all the way down at the #22 spot, costing owners just $11,551 over the first ten years for basic maintenance and repairs. However, VW is trying to get that number down even further with their Carefree Coverage warranty program. It’s a suite of coverages designed to keep your Volkswagen vehicle in tip-top shape. It includes: 2 yrs. Service - Scheduled Carefree Maintenance (2 years or 20,000 miles) 3 yrs. Help - Roadside Assistance (3 years or 36,000 miles) 4 yrs. Coverage - New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) 5 yrs. Access - myVW Remote Access When you visit the VW service center for maintenance or repairs, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records, making the process simple and easy. It comes included on all late model VW vehicles. Ready to Shop for Used or New Cars for Sale in Houston? Visit VW Cypress! 7 Reasons Volkswagen Drivers Are Obsessed with Their Cars

Number 5 Might Come as a Bit of a Surprise to You The cool thing about Volkswagen is that it's not just a series of vehicles – it's an entire culture of drivers. When people think of VW, they think cross country travel, an elevated driving experience, and iconic hits like the VW Beetle and the VW Golf GTI. Volkswagen is one of the rare brands that is both future-forward while also being deeply rooted in nostalgia. So, why exactly do drivers love their VW vehicles? Let's break this down. #1 – They Make Some of the Best Cars in the World (Literally) One thing that's great about the VW brand is that they manufacture some of the best cars in the world. Literally. For example, the all-electric VW ID.4 was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, besting its EV counterparts and traditional vehicles alike. #2 – They Are Fuel-Efficient The VW ID.4 is obviously going to be fuel-efficient since it runs on battery, but what about our traditional vehicles? If you've been spending tons of money at the pump, you'll be pleased to find out that the 2022 VW Jetta gets 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway, easily making this one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. #3 – They Pack Performance and Speed Just because a VW is your daily driver doesn't mean it should skimp in the performance department. For those of you thrill-seekers out there, the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R packs an incredible 315 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque, easily leaving all competitors in the dust. #4 – They Accommodate Even the Largest of Families Some of you out there have big families. Really big families. And large families require the biggest vehicle that VW offers – the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas. It comfortably seats up to seven people and offers up to 96.8 cubic feet of cargo space (with rear seats folded down). If you want to be the biggest thing out there on the road, you can't go wrong with the VW Atlas. #5 – Celebrities Drive VW Vehicles Similar to how Larry David lent the Prius some star power on his show Curb Your Enthusiasm, Volkswagen has its own stable of stars and celebrities that enjoy the VW brand. Hugh Jackman, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, and Heidi Klum are just a few of the stars that you may see behind the wheel of a VW. #6 – They Come with an Industry Leading Warranty When you get a new vehicle, you want to be sure that your purchase is going to be covered on maintenance and unforeseen situations, like being stranded on the side of the road. Fortunately, Volkswagen offers an industry-leading warranty on all late model VW vehicles. Here’s a breakdown of the Carefree Coverage warranty: 2 yrs. #7 – They Are Competitively Priced One of the big things that people love about VW is that they are luxurious cars without the luxury price tag. In fact, you can get behind the wheel of a brand-new VW Jetta for right around $20,000. Furthermore, after the potential federal tax credit, drivers can purchase a Volkswagen ID.4 for as low as $29,995, making it one of the most competitively priced electric vehicles on the market. VW Electric Semis Are Entering the Market

What This Means for VW and Where to Find New Cars for Sale in Houston from Volkswagen If you've been shopping for new cars for sale in Houston in recent months, chances are, you've already heard about the game-changing all-electric Volkswagen ID.4. Winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, it is the resident crown jewel for VW in the electric vehicle space. Not only did it best every other heavy hitter in the EV category, it surpassed all traditional vehicles that run on gasoline. Although the VW ID.4 was the first VW electric car for sale by the Volkswagen group, the plan was always to go bigger and better with its offering of electric vehicles. There are several other electric vehicles that Volkswagen plans to roll out. Some of the top names include the VW ID. LIFE, the VW ID. Aero, and the VW ID. Buzz. However, there is some news coming down the pipe that VW has something even bigger planned. In fact, this electric vehicle would be so big it would not even be sold at a Volkswagen dealer near you. We're talking, of course, about electric semi-trucks. Volkswagen has big plans to change the game again with a lineup of electric semis. What’s the Latest News on VW Semis? According to Auto Week, European truck maker MAN is going to be making the transition over to electric when it comes to semi-trucks. For those not familiar, MAN is part of the Traton Group, which is owned by Volkswagen. Roughly a year ago, MAN opened its eMobility Center at its Munich plant. According to Michael Kobriger, board member for production and logistics at MAN Truck & Bus, "We're using the MAN eMobility Center to develop the skills needed to take our e-trucks into series production. It's where employees at the Munich factory will be qualified in future technologies under real production conditions." As it stands, the goal is to have these electric semi-trucks in small-series production by 2023 followed by full-scale production by the year 2024. The truck maker spent the last year refining and improving their process assembling vehicle battery packs. These packs should yield a range of somewhere between 372 to 497 miles. The truck maker is already showing major progress having produced at least 20 different prototypes of electric semi. MAN currently has electric buses and vans in production, but electric semi-trucks would be a huge game-changer for both MAN and VW. It would cut down on fuel budgets and be a big step toward reducing carbon emissions, which is a goal that VW is keeping top of mind. However, there is quite a bit of work that needs to be done before the goal becomes a reality. Gas-powered trucks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The initial roll-out of all-electric semi-trucks will be a test to see if they have the performance capabilities to one day replace diesel-fueled semis. These electric semi-trucks will need to be road-tested extensively to see if that’s even possible. Where to Find the Best New Cars for Sale in Houston For those that had been looking at new electric cars for sale, then look no further than VW Cypress. The Reasons Why You Will Love Driving a Volkswagen Vehicle

And Where to Find the Best New Cars for Sale in Houston at a Volkswagen Dealership Near You Everyone knows that we keep it fun and friendly here at Volkswagen. That’s exactly how we get drivers to keep coming back to us year after year. VW doesn’t make point A to point B cars. When designers and engineers are conceptualizing VW vehicles, they do so knowing that drivers are expecting an elevated experience that makes them look forward to getting behind the wheel every day. Even the daily commute to work should deliver an enjoyable experience. It's that dedication to the driving experience that has landed many VW vehicles on Car and Driver Editors’ Choice List along with several other accolades. For instance, the all-electric VW ID.4 won the 2021 World Car of the Year Award and was recently named one of Wards 10 Best User Experiences. So, what exactly makes a VW distinct from all the other cars on the road? Here are some of the top things that drivers love about Volkswagen vehicles. #1 – They Love All the Infotainment, Safety, and Convenience Features When it comes to features, VW is regarded as an overachiever in that regard. They really know how to pack in all the bells and whistles. Some of the big ones that have people talking are Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro, premium sound systems by BeatsAudio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, VW Voice Assistant, remote and connected features via the myVW app, and the suite of driver assistance features via IQ.DRIVE, which include: Travel Assist Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Active Blind Spot Monitor Rear Traffic Alert Front Assist Emergency Assist (automatic transmission only) Lane Assist Many VW vehicles have earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation because of their comprehensive safety feature packages. #2 – They Love the Warranty Nothing is more important than a warranty when shopping for new cars for sale in Houston, which is why VW is proud to offer their customers Carefree Coverage. It is a suite of coverages and services that protect your vehicle. It breaks down as follows: 2 yrs. Access - myVW Remote Access Anytime that you visit the VW service center for routine maintenance or service, Carefree Coverage will come up in your records, making the process simple and easy. #3 – They Love Getting Big Time Storage Capacity Big families deserve a big-time SUV that can handle all of their storage demands. When it comes time for that cross-country road trip or weekend getaway to the lake for camping, you don't want to be short on space. This is why so many families love the VW Atlas and the VW Atlas Cross Sport. These two SUVs are perfect for those large family dynamics that require a ton of seating and ample cargo space. The VW Atlas can comfortably seat up to seven people and has storage capacity up to 96.8 cubic feet (with rear seats folded down). Our SUVs know how to get the job done. #4 – They Love Not Paying for Gas Can you believe there are some parts of the country where gas is over $5 per gallon? We can’t either. However, the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 is here to save the day. Able to drive up to 275 miles on a single charge (Pro model), the VW ID.4 is saving drivers everywhere tons of money at the pump. It also happens to be one of the most affordable electric SUVs on the market. With a starting MSRP of $41,230 ( as low as $33,730 after federal tax credit), there's never been a better time to switch over to an electric vehicle. Looking for New Cars for Sale in Houston? 4 Things to Know When Buying a Used Car

How to Prepare – and Get a Good Deal – Before You Purchase a Used Car We get it, there’s nothing like buying a brand new car knowing you’re the only one that has been behind the wheel. Not to mention, new cars are up-to-date on the latest technology and safety features. They’re also secured with a warranty that’s sure to last you a few years. There’s only one problem when it comes to purchasing a brand new vehicle – price. In today’s economy, some people just can’t realistically handle a huge car payment. For this reason, many people are perfectly content owning a used car. It’s common knowledge that new cars are likely to depreciate about 20% during their first year. Strategic drivers avoid this issue by only browsing previously owned vehicles. If you do your research and have a plan, you can score a really great deal on a used car. Start now by simply searching “used car dealerships near me.” You’ll be surprised how many options there are. It can be overwhelming at first, so it’s important to have a strategy as you explore. Follow these 4 tips before you purchase a used car. Set A Budget The first step to any big purchase is to establish how much you’re looking to spend. When deciding this, consider it from both a monthly and an overall standpoint. As you shop around, remind yourself of those numbers to ensure that you’re staying on the right track. If you’re shopping online, you might want to filter the results by price range. This will guarantee you’re only looking at used cars that are in your price range. Determine the Actual Cost of the Vehicle As you search for your used car, keep in mind that the price up front isn’t always exactly what you’ll be paying. Other fees could come into play later and alter the cost. Interest on car payments and insurance are just a few examples of fees that will be applied later. Don’t forget about routine maintenance or repairs, either. They can sneak up on you. Using an online payment estimator can help account for these variables and allow you to stay within budget. Plan How You’ll Pay for the Vehicle Now that you’ve established your budget, it’s time to think about how you’re going to pay for your new car. If you plan to use cash, you’re all set. If not, it’s important to start thinking about financing as soon as possible. It’s a good idea to get in touch with your bank or credit union and inform them that you’re searching for a used car. Ask about what financing options are available to you. Receiving a pre-approved loan also proves to a car dealership that you’re ready to make your purchase and are serious about it. It may even help you negotiate a lower price on your used car. Know the History of the Car You shouldn’t buy a car without learning more about it beforehand. Once you find a used car that not only catches your eye, but also fits within your budget, it’s time to do some research. First, set up a test drive to actually get behind the wheel. Use your test drive to feel how the car operates. Make sure to drive it through neighborhoods and on the highway. Pay attention to how it brakes and accelerates. Think about whether or not you could see yourself driving this vehicle everyday. You’ll also want to educate yourself on the vehicle’s history. Ask plenty of questions regarding how many owners the used car has had, repairs that have been made, and if it's ever been in an accident. Find Your Used Car at a Volkswagen Dealership Near You Now that you know how to effectively shop for a used car, you can begin looking. Simply search “used car dealerships near me” to hone in on dealerships in your area. It’s likely that a Volkswagen dealership near you will pop up. At VW Cypress, we offer both new Volkswagen models and used cars in all makes and models, so there’s no doubt you’ll find the perfect vehicle for you – and one that’s within your budget. volkswagen group joins irma

A Big Step Forward: Volkswagen Joins IRMA

Our Promise to Responsible Supply Chain Management and Employee Safety Whether you drive one yourself or are just an automotive enthusiast, you may be familiar with Volkswagen’s first all-electric vehicle, the VW ID.4, that was released last year. Not only is it one of the most thrilling models that Volkswagen has ever produced, but it was also named the winner of the 2021 Car of the Year Award. Being an electric vehicle manufacturer requires Volkswagen to source materials for undoubtedly one of the most important components of the ID.4 model – the battery. To remain a leader in the EV world, Volkswagen must responsibly source various materials that are included in the battery such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and graphite. You’ll be happy to hear, Volkswagen - and by extension, your Volkswagen dealer - are already on it. Earlier this year, Volkswagen Group joined the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance, or IRMA. So, what does this mean? Follow along to learn more about IRMA, and what you can expect from Volkswagen going forward. What is IRMA? IRMA is an organization that ensures mining and sourcing of raw materials is completed in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. It aims to promote business integrity and plan for positive legacies. IRMA certifies that companies in jewelry, electronics, construction, and auto are purchasing minerals that were mined responsibly. Aside from this, IRMA’s overall mission is to not only protect individuals within the mining industry, but also reduce the environmental impact of mining. Its standards encompass protecting human and community rights, health protection of workers and relevant communities, safety within the workplace, exclusion of corruption, and environmental protection. IRMA is known to be highly credible and comprehensive, as it leads both companies and nonprofit organizations, including Volkswagen. Aimee Boulanger, Executive Director of IRMA, greeted Volkswagen by saying, “We welcome the Volkswagen’s Group membership and look forward to working with them as they leverage their significant global reach to advance more responsible mining practices.” What This Means for Volkswagen So, what does this mean for VW as a company and your Volkswagen dealer? By joining IRMA, Volkswagen is committing to apply the IRMA standards within its battery supply chains over time. Murat Aksel, Volkswagen Group’s Board Member for Purchasing, revealed that the auto manufacturer is welcoming transparent rules. He also expressed that IRMA incorporates all the important components of the supply chain: raw material suppliers, raw material buyers, workers’ representatives, civil society forces, investors, and independent experts. Pledging to IRMA is essential for Volkswagen as it produces several other electric vehicles to join the VW ID.4 in the future. These electric vehicles that are currently in the development stage will follow the trend of offering climate-neutral mobility. It guarantees that they will source these current and upcoming vehicles in a proper and sustainable way. Since 2020, Volkswagen has offered full exposure of the entire supply chain, including its mining and new contracts for battery raw materials. It also launched a standardized raw material management system that is still in use today. Volkswagen Group was the first automotive company to publicly disclose a separate report that described the group-wide measures being taken for responsible sourcing of 16 raw materials. Find the Perfect Electric Vehicle for This Summer

Achieve Efficiency and Sustainability When You Use Your Volkswagen Electric Car On Your Next Road Trip It’s no secret that gas prices have been on the rise, forcing you to set aside more money to fill up your vehicle than you originally bargained for. This can be especially inconvenient if you're in the middle of planning a family road trip for summer break where you’ll be making frequent stops to fill up your tank. Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to switch to a VW electric car for sale, like the Volkswagen ID.4. Before you make the switch, it’s important to research all the offerings of new electric cars and what brands are most reliable. We’ll give you a head start. Your Volkswagen dealer can help. Explore Volkswagen’s Electric Car Model For starters, Volkswagen’s first electric car, the ID.4, was the 2021 winner of the World Car of the Year award. In addition to having the latest suite of safety and convenience features, the VW ID.4 can drive up to 275 miles on a single charge. That should be more than enough to get you through the workweek. However, if you’re making summer travel plans from Houston, you should be able to confidently drive to places like Austin, San Antonio, and Lafayette with no stops if you leave with a full battery. Additionally, this VW electric car for sale is one of the most competitively priced on the market with a starting MSRP of $41,2302 (as low as $33,730 after potential federal tax credit). Visiting a Volkswagen dealer near you, like VW Cypress, can help expedite your switch to a new electric car. However, we have plenty of used cars as well that run on gas, just in case you’re not ready to make the leap to EV. Regardless of whether you decide to go with a used car or one fresh out of the factory, your Volkswagen electric car will integrate efficiency and sustainability. Once you switch to an electric car, you won’t ever want to go back. Learning More About Your New Electric Car First, let’s clarify how an electric vehicle actually works. Rather than using an internal combustion engine, these types of cars are powered by an electric motor that is battery operated. In lieu of filling up your vehicle with gas, you charge it. Before you find an electric car to call your own, it’s beneficial to learn more about all it can do, along with the other perks of owning an electric vehicle. Of course, the biggest benefit to owning an electric car is that it's better for the environment because there isn’t fuel being polluted into the air. And since electric cars don’t require fuel, you’ll also save a ton of money on gas. Electric cars also don’t need as much maintenance compared to cars that feature a combustion engine. Motors found in electric vehicles have less parts, ultimately leading to a reduced need for service and maintenance. Charging Your Volkswagen Electric Car You can drive across the country with an electric vehicle. Electrify America, one of the top brands for EV charging stations, can be found in a plethora of states and has plans to spread even more throughout the country. Did you know that some hotels even offer charging stations for your electric vehicle? Once you’re done exploring for the day, just charge it overnight to prepare for your next adventure. Some establishments also have charging stations in their parking lot. These are convenient because your car will be able to charge while you shop or dine. However, be cautious of what charging station you use. They aren’t all the same, and there are three different types out there. The first tier is the slowest and can be compared to a standard 120-volt plug. You might want to avoid this kind if your battery is close to empty, as it may need many hours to return to a full charge. You’re more likely to find a charger that’s a part of the second level. These are able to supply your vehicle with a full battery in less than 10 hours. The cost typically varies, but is usually greatly cheaper than gas. Lastly, the third and top level, called Direct Current Fast Chargers, is your most time-effective option. These chargers can refill your battery in nearly 20 minutes, so they may come in handy when you’re in a hurry to arrive at your destination. Be sure to consider the weather when you’re behind the wheel. Electric vehicles actually lose power faster in the cold than they do in warm weather. This goes to show that there’s no better time for a summer road trip in your VW new electric car. Start at a Volkswagen Dealer Near You Don’t wait to make the switch to an electric vehicle. At VW Cypress, we have countless VW electric cars for sale just waiting to be driven. No matter if you’re looking for a used car or want to be the first owner, our Volkswagen dealer has it all. The Best Automotive Features to Look for When Buying a New Car

And How to Get a Vehicle That’s Packed with Features When Visiting Your Local Volkswagen Dealer When people shop for cars, they generally have a handful of critical items in mind that will ultimately drive their purchasing decision. For those SUV shoppers out there, it's all about getting the most amount of cargo space and power under the hood. For those shopping for speedy hatchbacks like the Golf R and Golf GTI, it’s all about speed and handling. Things like horsepower, torque, gas mileage, and other critical factors play a key role in any vehicle purchase. However, it's easy to forget that the features of a vehicle are what make it fun to drive, not to mention safer and more convenient. Just think about the first time you bought a vehicle that had Bluetooth connectivity and how quickly that made the driving experience more enjoyable. Not every feature is going to be a hit, but there are a fair few that warrant your consideration the next time you're shopping for a new vehicle. We'll break down some of the most popular ones, that way the next time you're at your local Volkswagen dealer, you'll know exactly what to ask for. #1 – Voice Recognition Voice recognition software has come a long way ever since those first few attempts. You may recall the debut of Siri wasn’t exactly perfect when it originally rolled out. Fast forward to today, and voice recognition software is far more advanced than it ever was. It's not just in our phones anymore. Voice recognition software is being used in devices like Google Home, Alexa, and even automobiles. So, why exactly is voice recognition such an important feature in a vehicle? Because most accidents nowadays are caused by being distracted by phone calls. If you're talking on your phone, then more than likely the road doesn't have your undivided attention. You also probably only have one hand on the wheel. However, with voice recognition software you can answer and initiate phone calls simply by using your voice. You can even dictate and send text messages without ever having to touch your cell phone. And if that weren't enough, voice recognition software allows you to ask for directions, change the radio station, and even start your vehicle. Considering the safety and convenience factor that voice recognition provides, it comes as no surprise that it's one of our most popular features here at VW Cypress. #2 – Adaptive Cruise Control By this point, you're probably already well aware of what cruise control is and how it works. You accelerate to the speed that you want to maintain, activate cruise control, and now you no longer need to apply your foot to the gas pedal. People on the highway do it all the time. However, if there's a vehicle in front of you that is not maintaining the same rate of speed that you are, then that means you may have to hit the brakes to avoid getting too close. Adaptive cruise control conveniently solves that problem. In the event that the car in front of you begins to slow down, your adaptive cruise control feature will recognize it and adjust your speed automatically without you having to get involved. This makes highway driving safer and easier. #3 – Forward Collision Warning/Avoidance Nobody wants to be involved in a collision. They're dangerous, they interrupt your life, and they threaten both you and your vehicle. This is why every major auto manufacturer has continually tried to develop ways to make driving safer and minimize the risk of collisions. Volkswagen is no different in that regard. The safety feature that they brought to the table is forward collision warning/avoidance. It works like this: if you're in danger of hitting the person in front of you, the forward collision warning (FCW) detects it. The FCW will emit sounds, flash lights, and potentially modify the tactile feel of your steering wheel or brake pedal. Forward collision avoidance will activate the FCW sensors and apply an automatic emergency brake to stop the vehicle if the driver does not. Many collisions occur due to lack of reaction time, poor judgment, or not paying attention to the cars in front of you. The forward collision warning/avoidance is essentially the safety net for when the human element fails.
