Let’s Review the 6 Volkswagen Models That Made Car and Driver Editors’ Choice List for 2022

Our Top Vehicles that Made the Cut and How to Test Drive Them at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer If it's one thing that we love here at Volkswagen, it's a bit of good press. It's always reassuring to know that drivers and reviewers are enjoying your vehicles just as much as you'd hoped. As your local Volkswagen dealer here in Houston, we always strive to show our customers the perfect vehicle that matches up with their driving style, family dynamic, and budget. However, sometimes the press does the heavy lifting for us, and they showcase some of our best vehicles on our behalf. That’s exactly the case here with the Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice List in which no less than six VW vehicles made the cut. The next time you’re at a new car dealership near you, keep the following six VW vehicles in mind for a test drive. #1 – Volkswagen ID.4 (Electric SUV category) What the critics said: After all the hard work VW engineers and designers put into their debut electric vehicle, it’s good to know the critics gave the VW ID.4 glowing remarks. They praised the ID.4 for its ample storage space, smooth driving style, ease of use, and extensive single-charge driving range. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: The interesting thing about the VW ID.4 is that it has already won one of the industry's highest honors. We’re referring, of course, to the 2021 World Car of the Year Award. The VW ID.4 bested vehicles in the electric and non-electric categories alike. If gas prices are getting you down, there's never been a better time to consider making a switch over to an electric vehicle. The VW ID.4 Pro Model gets up to 280 miles on a single charge, which should be more than enough to get you through the work week. With the starting MSRP of $41,230 ( $33,730 after potential federal tax credit), this also happens to be one of the most competitively priced electric vehicles on the market. #2 – The Volkswagen Golf R (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: Reviewers praised the VW Golf R for its handling and snappy performance while remaining understated and practical. They called the Golf R the “hot hatch for mature driving enthusiasts.” A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: We're inclined to agree with the critics on this one. The Volkswagen Golf R is indeed a zippy vehicle that knows how to handle itself out on the road. The 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission with R-performance torque vectoring 4MOTION all-wheel-drive delivers a driving experience few other cars can rival. You’ll also have a whopping 295 lb-ft. of torque and 315 horsepower at your disposal. #3 – Volkswagen Golf GTI (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: What you have to keep in mind about the Volkswagen Golf GTI is that this is actually the 8th iteration of this particular model. The pressure is on to come up with something bigger and better every time. Fortunately, reviewers were impressed that the Mk8 continued to improve upon the previous model. It's quicker and lighter and yet somehow remains a practical daily driver. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: So, you've probably noticed by now that there are a couple Volkswagen Golf vehicles in the mix. They're both speedy hatchbacks, so it's easy to get them mixed up. As far as performance goes, the Golf R is the clear winner. However, the Golf GTI isn’t far behind. It packs 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft. of torque. The other great thing about the Golf GTI is the price point. You can claim this speedy hatchback for starting MSRP of under $30,000. You can check out the Golf GTI right now by visiting the Volkswagen dealership near you right here at VW Cypress. #4 – Volkswagen Jetta GLI (Sport Compact Car category) What the critics said: Reviewers enjoyed the upscale feature package that's included with the Jetta GLI. They also complimented the fun driving style and unexpected practicality, saying it would be difficult to find a sedan that's more fun to drive than the Jetta GLI. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: VW set out to make an impression with the Jetta GLI, and based upon the feedback, it appears their efforts have paid off. The 2.0L Turbo engine and 228 horsepower with 258 lb-ft. of torque provides a speedy experience not often seen with sedans. And with a starting MSRP of just $31,295, you can see why customers are flocking to this fun and sophisticated vehicle. #5 – Volkswagen Tiguan (Compact SUV category) What the critics said: As expected, reviewers praised the Tiguan for its massive cabin space, which is nearly 74 cubic feet (with seats folded down). They also praised the elegant design, sporty handling, and refined driving experience that Tiguan offers. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: Customers love the Tiguan because it takes all the standard elements of an SUV and elevates them with upscale features and design elements that only VW can offer. If you're looking for the perfect vehicle for a big family getaway or group camping trip, then look no further than the Tiguan. It was born to carry big groups in style. #6 – Volkswagen Taos (Subcompact SUV category) What the critics said: The VW Taos – the smallest SUV in our lineup – made a positive impression with reviewers for having a huge backseat and ample cargo room, despite its overall size. They also remarked on the great fuel economy (28 city/36 highway), which is a huge plus for drivers trying to save money at the pump. A word from your local Volkswagen dealer: Although the Taos is the smallest of the VW SUV lineup, it still delivers many of those classic SUV hallmarks. You'll get plenty of storage and space, of course. However, since the Taos is a subcompact SUV, you'll notice that it's a little bit more agile on the road than some of the bigger SUVs. Another big win for the Taos is that it has a low cost of ownership. The great fuel economy and the starting MSRP of $23,495 make the Taos the most budget-friendly SUV that we offer. A Quick Guide Prepping for Your Texas Road Trip This Spring

And Which Road Trip-Worthy VW Vehicles to Check Out at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer If you've ever gone on a road trip before, then you’re already familiar with the dreadful feeling that you may have forgotten something important. There's nothing worse than traveling a few hundred miles cross-country only to remember that you left an important medication, your wallet, or something of equal importance back at home. Then you have to ask yourself a really tough question: “Do I burn a few hours going back to retrieve it or do I press on and hope that I don't need it?” That's a tough call to make when you're out on the road with your family in tow. Going back will for sure have an effect on the overall mood of the trip. Not going back may cost you down the line. So, what's the best way to avoid this situation from happening? You gotta be prepared. That means thinking about every item that you could potentially need, and perhaps a few that you don’t, but are nice to have (just in case). The next time that you're packing up for your big family road trip, consider these items as they may help you avoid hitting any potential snags. The Items You Need to Have to Legally Drive Breaking down on the side of the road is probably the worst thing that can happen to you during a road trip. So, what's a close second? Getting pulled over by local law enforcement, of course. Although we can’t help you out if you were speeding or performed an illegal lane change, we can at least help you avoid racking up any additional citations by having the right documentation on hand. Before you hit the road, make sure you have your: Driver’s license Vehicle registration Proof of insurance Items That Are Great to Have in Case You Have Car Trouble “Car trouble.” These are two words you never want to hear during a road trip. A leaking hose or a punctured tire can quickly bring your fun family road trip to a screeching halt, so it's best to be prepared for anything and everything. Try to have most of the following items with you before you start your journey. Roadside assistance (included with VW Carefree Coverage) or AAA card Emergency roadside assistance kit Duct tape (for patching up hose leaks) Car manual Extra car key Spare tire and/or a canister of Fix-a-Flat Jumper cables Tire pressure gauge Flashlight or headlamp Ice scraper (for winter traveling) Items That Will Make You and Your Passengers More Comfortable Not everyone is cut out for life on the road. You might find that some of your passengers feel cramped or otherwise uncomfortable while cruising along the Interstate. This is especially true for anyone with young kids who have a lot of pent-up energy. Keeping your passengers entertained and comfortable is a big job, but there are ways to manage it. Here are some items that make being on the road easier: Sunshades for windows Eye mask or sunglasses (for daytime napping) Refillable water bottles Variety of snacks and drinks Travel pillows and blankets Cozy breathable clothing Baby wipes to keep hands clean A great soundtrack or audiobook Any applicable travel toiletries or medications Finding a Road Trip-Worthy Vehicle at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Fortunately, the engineers and designers at Volkswagen always keep long distance travel in mind when creating their vehicles. Longtime road-trippers will recall how America fell in love with the Type 2 VW Microbus back in the 1970s, which was the archetype for cross-country travel for big groups. Although the design and performance of Volkswagen vehicles has elevated since then, the spirit of road-tripping in a VW remains the same. For instance, if you're looking for an SUV with plenty of seating, storage, and power, then the VW Atlas is the perfect large-size vehicle for you and your family. It offers nearly 97 cubic feet of storage, which means you can pack in all your camping gear and luggage without breaking a sweat. Or, if you're looking for a vehicle with fantastic fuel economy, you can’t go wrong with the all-new VW Jetta. It gets 31 miles per gallon in the city and 41 miles per gallon on the highway. It's fantastic for keeping those trips to the gas station under control. Stop By Your Local Volkswagen Dealer for Great Deals on VW! VW Scores Big on Car and Driver Editors’ Choice List for 2022

6 Models to Look Out for at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer In the automobile world, you win some and you lose some. Here at VW, we love to win. That’s great for us as a Volkswagen dealer because it means we’re able to offer drivers the very best cars in the industry. For instance, when the VW ID.4 took home the 2021 World Car of the Year Award, that was a huge win for everyone. It proved that VW could make an impact in the EV market by giving drivers an eco-friendly alternative. In an industry this competitive, you’ve got to celebrate the wins. This year we've been fortunate enough to have another victory by being featured in Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice List. VW scored six slots in four different categories. Although we aim to please the consumer, it's good to know that we're making reviewers happy as well. The following is a small breakdown of each vehicle mentioned on Car and Driver’s Editors’ Choice List for 2022. Each of these vehicles can be test driven at a Volkswagen dealership near you. Subcompact SUV Category - VW Taos What they liked: The editors of Car and Driver remarked on the huge back seat, generous cargo storage, and amazing fuel economy that this sub-compact SUV gets. What our customers like: There’s a common misconception that buying an SUV means paying an arm and a leg for all the storage and power you get, but that’s not the case with the VW Taos. With a starting MSRP of $23,295, this allows drivers to get the SUV of their dreams at a super low price point. Compact SUV category - VW Tiguan What they liked: Editors enjoyed the sporty handling, spacious cabin, and optional 3rd row of seating for large parties. They also remarked on the refined driving experience and distinct European charm the VW Tiguan offers. What our customers like: It’s another vote for storage and seating. When customers come onto the lot looking for the most seating and/or storage, we bring them right over to the VW Tiguan. This five or seven-seater has been a great alternative for those who need tons of space for passengers but don’t want to go the minivan route. Electric SUV category - VW ID.4 What they liked: Reviewers enjoyed the spacious interior, adequate range per charge, quiet and serene ride, and how easy to drive the ID.4 is. What our customers like: For years, it’s been difficult for customers to find an EV vehicle that is both future-forward and at an affordable price point. The VW ID.4 solves that problem. With a starting MSRP of $40,760 (as low as $33,260 after potential federal tax credit), the ID.4 has been the reason many holdouts are finally making the switch to electric. Due to the popularity of this vehicle, make sure to check with the new car dealership near you to ensure it’s in stock. You can always pre-order the ID.4 if it’s not at your local VW dealership. Sport Compact Car category - VW Golf R What they liked: The refined turbocharged engine, joyful handling, practical hatchback body, and snappy performance all stood out to the editors at Car and Driver. What our customers like: To quote the great Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights, “I wanna go fast!” With 315 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque, the VW Golf R allows you to do just that. This is one speedy little whip, and drivers can’t get enough of it. Sport Compact Car Category - VW Jetta GLI What they liked: Editors praised the Jetta GLI’s affordable price point, fun driving style, upscale feature package, and overall practicality. What our customers like: The Jetta GLI is sort of its own highlight reel. It’s fast, it’s powerful, it’s packed with every safety and infotainment feature in the book. It’s the compact that performs like a racecar and is roomy like a sedan. Oh, and starting MSRP of $30,995 makes the Jetta GLI a steal. Sport Compact Car Category - VW Golf GTI What they liked: Reviewers loved the improvements this newest iteration of the Golf GTI makes on the Mk7 edition. It’s fun to drive, lighter and quicker, and provides an exhilarating driving experience. What our customers like: The VW Golf GTI is another speedy whip in the VW arsenal that drivers love when they need to bob and weave through traffic. The Mk8 iteration proves yet again that the designers and engineers at VW know how to keep raising the bar. Ready for a Test Drive? Visit Your Local Volkswagen Dealer! Which SUV is Right for You?

How to Select the Perfect VW SUV at Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Finding the perfect SUV can be tricky, especially for scrupulous buyers who hang on every detail. Chances are that the new car dealership near you carries so many SUVs (in several different trim levels) that it’s difficult to determine which one is going to be the right fit. It should have plenty of interior space for family camping trips and weekly visits to the grocery store. It should have decent fuel economy for commuting to work and long-distance travels. Finally, it should also pack a ton of power under the hood. So, how do you go about selecting the right SUV for you and your family dynamic? Sometimes it helps to do a side-by-side comparison. To help you with your decision-making process, we're providing a small breakdown of each VW SUV that we carry here at the Volkswagen dealership. 2022 VW Taos Starting MSRP: $23,295 Engine/Powertrain: 1.5L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder Horsepower: 158 Torque: 184 lb-ft. Fuel economy: 28 city/36 highway Max towing capacity: not yet announced Seating capacity: 5 Max cargo space: 65.9 cubic ft. Where the VW Taos wins: For those of you looking to score a VW SUV at the lowest possible price point, the VW Taos is the least expensive in our entire lineup. Additionally, it has the best fuel economy when comparing it to our other SUVs (with the exception of the all-electric VW ID.4). For an SUV owner on a budget, the Taos is the clear winner. 2022 VW Tiguan Starting MSRP: $26,295 Engine/Powertrain: 2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder Horsepower: 184 Torque: 221 lb-ft. Fuel economy: 23 city/30 highway Max towing capacity: 1,500 lbs. Seating capacity: 5 or 7 Max cargo space: 73.4 cubic ft. Where the VW Tiguan wins: Although the VW Taos is the least expensive SUV in our lineup, by paying a little bit more you can get a full-size SUV in the VW Tiguan. Granted, you'll see a slight decrease in fuel economy, but you will bump up both your storage capacity and your power under the hood. Additionally, the seven-seat option is perfect for those with a large family dynamic. 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport Starting MSRP: $33,200 Engine/Powertrain: 2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder or 3.6L V6 Horsepower: up to 276 Torque: up to 266 ft-lb. Fuel economy: 21 city/25 highway Max towing capacity up to 5,000 lbs. Seating capacity: 5 Max cargo space: 77.8 cubic ft. Where the VW Atlas Cross Sport wins: When you think of powerful full-size SUVs, think of the VW Atlas Cross Sport. Although the sticker price is a bit higher than the Taos and the Tiguan, you're getting more storage and far more power for your money. 2022 VW Atlas Starting MSRP: $33,900 Engine/Powertrain: 2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder or 3.6L V6 Horsepower: up to 276 Torque: up to 266 ft-lb. Fuel economy: 21 city/25 highway Max towing capacity: up to 5,000 lbs. Seating capacity: 7 Max cargo space: 96.8 cubic ft. Where the VW Atlas wins: For those with a big family and huge cargo capacity demands, they need the largest SUV in our lineup. The VW Atlas seats up to seven people and features the most cargo space out of any VW SUV that we carry. It also happens to be the most powerful. 2021 VW ID.4 Starting MSRP: $40,760 (as low as $33,260 after potential federal tax credit) Engine/Powertrain: All-electric powertrain featuring 82-kWh battery pack Horsepower: 201 Torque: 228 lb-ft. Driving range: Up to 260 miles on a single charge Max towing capacity: up to 2,700 lbs. Seating capacity: 5 Max cargo space: 64.2 cubic ft. Where the VW ID.4 wins: The VW ID.4 is the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year award, so you should set your expectations high for this SUV. It has fantastic range, plenty of power, and a fantastic price point when comparing it to other electric vehicles in its class. If you've ever considered making the switch from gas to electric, the VW ID.4 is a great choice. Ready to Test Drive a VW SUV? Visit Your Local Volkswagen Dealer! Planning Your First All-Electric Road Trip

How to Drive Cross-Country with Confidence in a VW Electric Car So, let’s say you finally have a VW electric car and you’re planning your first big road trip. You’ve got more than enough cargo storage for your luggage and the very best in infotainment features to keep everyone in your crew entertained. Additionally, since the VW ID.4 comes with enhanced navigation, you’ve got the quickest route to your destination all mapped out. There’s only one problem: how do you keep your VW ID.4 charged as you’re driving cross-country? Getting to Know Your VW Electric Car and its Capabilities The Volkswagen ID.4 uses an 82 kWh 400 V lithium-ion rechargeable battery that offers up to 260 miles on a single charge. 260 miles is usually more than enough to get you through all your weekly commuting in addition to those random trips to the grocery store, Target, and coffee runs. When you are driving around locally it’s easy to conserve your battery. It’s also easy to find opportunities to charge it. Most major grocery store chains, gyms, and malls have charging stations for EV vehicles. With a 9.6kW charger, you’ll be able to get about 10 – 15 miles after a 30-minute charge. The more powerful 25kW charger will provide 30 – 50 miles after a 30-minute charge. Finally, with a DC Fast Charger, you’ll get about 180 miles after a 30-minute charge. The challenge with cross-country road trips in an EV is finding those 25kW and DC Fast Chargers along your route and keeping your wait time to an absolute minimum. A road trip isn’t a road trip if you’re parked for most of it, right? So, let’s dig into the details of how to get the most out of your VW electric car’s battery and some other best practices. Plot Your Route and Find Your Charging Stations Driving a VW electric car means you need to be a little bit more strategic than normal. You not only need to know your route, but you also need to know which charging stations you can hit along the way. For instance, the approximate distance between Houston and Las Vegas is 1,457 miles. Your ID.4 can get up to 260 miles on a full charge. That means you’re going to need to stop to charge up six times, at minimum. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to do this. The PlugInAmerica.org site will show you every public charging station in the United States. It will even show you which ones are regular stations and which ones are DC Fast Charging stations. When you start to get low on battery, all you need to do is access the Plug In America website and find the station that’s most convenient for you. Major cities, of course, have a wider selection of charging stations. However, there are always several charging stations located just off the interstate at rest stops and gas stations. A Couple Other Key Tips for Cross-Country Travel in Your VW Electric Car Remember when we said that the Volkswagen ID.4 gets up to 260 miles on a single charge? The words “up to” are very important in that statement. A full battery doesn’t guarantee 260 miles unless you’re driving in the most optimal conditions. If you’re driving cross country, it’s likely you have extra passengers along with plenty of luggage that you’re hauling. This adds weight to the car, which means that your vehicle must work harder to do the same job. If you’re carrying an extra 500 pounds in weight, you should plan on stopping prematurely to the 260-mile benchmark. Another thing you want to consider with cross-country travel is the ability to multitask. When using a DC Fast Charger, you’ll need at least 45 minutes of charging to get the majority of your mileage back. This gives you and your family some time to kill. So, rather than just sitting around and waiting in your vehicle, try to plan out your charging route so that you can get a meal, do some sightseeing, or catch some sleep at a hotel while you wait. Your Springtime VW Service Checklist

What to Get Checked Out When Visiting Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Winter is officially behind us which means we can expect sunnier days and generally better driving conditions. Much the same way you need to winterize your vehicle before cold weather hits, you also need to perform a few key service checks with your car once winter is over. This ensures that your vehicle stays in optimal condition, both from an appearance standpoint and how it runs. If it’s been a while since you visited the VW service center, now is the perfect time to make your appointment to get your vehicle looked at. Here are the main four services and checks you should consider for your vehicle, all of which can be performed at a Volkswagen dealership near you in the VW service center. Get Those Tires Checked After a season of winter weather driving, it’s always a good idea to get your tires checked. First, you should verify that your tires have enough tread on them to last you through the spring. Granted, you can use the old Lincoln’s head on the penny trick, but it’s in your best interest to have a professional check it at the VW service center. Based on your driving habits, they can give you a solid estimate of how much longer your tires will last you. If it turns out that your tires are down to no tread at all – no problem – your service technician will be able to show you several different tire options for you to replace them with. The VW service center carries tires for sedans, compacts, and SUVs that are made to suit any price range. Time to Check the A/C It’s probably been a while since you’ve last turned on your air conditioning unit. With winter behind us, you can count on warmer days being more frequent as we approach the summer. Now is as good a time as any to get your air conditioning unit checked. You definitely don’t want to be driving a 90° Houston summer day with an air conditioning unit that can’t keep up. Get Your Battery Checked Out Winter weather driving is hard on your car’s battery. Although we don’t get a true winter here in Houston like they do up north, taking the time to get your battery checked is never a bad idea. Your VW service center technician can verify how much life is left in the battery and check it for any irregularities. Should it turn out that you need a battery replacement, we have plenty of them in stock right here at our service center at VW Cypress. Cleaning and Detailing You may not be thinking about it right now, but one day you will want to sell your car. One of the best ways to retain your vehicle’s current value is making sure that the exterior and interior are clean. After a season of winter driving, you may have noticed that your car is a little bit dirtier and grimier than what you would prefer. You can always take it to the local car wash and vacuum it out; however, if you really want a deep clean, we recommend that you get your car professionally detailed. This process costs a little more, but it gets your car looking like it’s just driven off the showroom floor. New VW Vehicles Are on the Carefree Coverage Plan If you are a new VW vehicle owner, don’t forget that you have Carefree Coverage. This means that a lot of routine maintenance and services are covered under your plan. As a refresher, here’s how Carefree Coverage breaks down: 2 yrs. Coverage - New Vehicle Limited Warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) 5 yrs. Access - Car-Net Remote Access When you visit the VW Service center, Carefree Coverage will appear in your records making the process simple and easy. key in car

The Evolution of the Car Key

Key Technology Explained by Your Local Volkswagen Dealer Think about how much technology has changed over the years. A phone is no longer just a phone anymore. It’s a video camera, gaming device, communications tool, and personal computer all rolled into one. As time marches on, we keep getting better at making things smaller, more efficient, and packed with features. This applies to our television sets, our computers, and even our car keys. To give you a little history lesson, we’re going to take a trip down memory lane to study the evolution of the car key. Let’s rewind all the way back to the time of muscle cars and one of the first iterations of the Volkswagen Beetle…the 1940s. The 1940s Back in the 1940s, the traditional metal key was how you turned on your car and locked/unlocked your doors. As expected, this car key did nothing more than what it needed to. However, it was the official starting point of key technology, and as the saying goes, “We all gotta start somewhere.” Although the traditional metal key design would be the standard for several decades, it would go through gradual optimizations that slimmed it down and made it lighter in weight. 1950s – 1970s Starting in the 1950s, Volkswagen began to advance both their automobile fleet and car key technology. They designed thirteen different key profiles – also known as blanks – for their offering of VW vehicles. Each profile was uniquely designed and had a different two-letter code that corresponded with its specific vehicle lock. This two-letter code would also appear on the vehicle – usually somewhere inconspicuous – that matched up with the code on the key. The 1990s The 1990s is when we started to see huge leaps forward with car key technology. At long last, the remote keyless entry fob was introduced to the market. For the majority of vehicle owners out there, this is the key that you’re most likely using right now (although an advanced version). The science behind it is that the key sends out a coded radio signal to your vehicle that issues commands such as locking the doors and starting the engine. It would only take a few years before the key fob was further improved by adding additional command features such as keyless trunk entry and alarm system activation/deactivation. To further innovate the fob, a switchblade version was introduced in Germany that the public fell in love with. Drivers took a liking to the clever design and distinct popping motion of the key. For those of you that have ever owned a Golf GTI or VW Beetle, this is a variety of key you’re already familiar with. The Millennium In the 2000s, our phones graduated to smartphones and our keys advanced to – yeah, you guessed it – smart keys. No longer was the traditional metal key portion needed. These modern keys sent a direct signal to the car’s ignition issuing the command to start. Most of these keys featured a backup metal key hidden on the inside just in case the battery ran out. Current Day Do you know what the most evolved version of a car key is? It’s getting rid of the key completely. We’re finally at the point where the new vehicles being manufactured technically don’t need car keys anymore. Many of the important functions of your vehicle can be accessed via your smartphone. In fact, the all-electric Volkswagen ID. 4 utilizes keyless entry technology so that drivers can access their vehicles using the Volkswagen Car-Net app. The app can also control the vehicle’s climate and provide an at-a-glance look at current battery health. Although the car key is an important part of automobile history, it won’t be long before it’s phased out and nothing more than a piece of nostalgia. Things to Do While Charging Your EV

5 Clever Ways to Kill Time When Recharging Your VW Electric Car We all know the drill when it comes to fueling up at the pump. You pop the gas cap off, insert the fuel pump, and a few minutes later your tank is full and you’re down about forty or fifty bucks. Repeat this process another two or three times per month and you can see why many folks are giving serious consideration to switching to an EV vehicle. Gas prices along with all the oil changes and other maintenance add up over the year. Additionally, older vehicles seem to need a little more TLC to keep them up and running. At some point, you have to ask yourself, “Can switching over to an EV save me money?” The answer is going to be different from person to person, especially now with many people driving less due to being on a work-from-home schedule. What we can say for sure is this: the automotive industry will eventually shift its vehicle production to be predominantly electric. Considering all the progress that’s been made with EV batteries and the driving range they can get these days, going electric is the next natural step in the industry’s evolution. Case in point: our brand-new Volkswagen electric car for sale – known as the VW ID.4 – is able to get up to 260 miles on a single charge. Additionally, it was the winner of the 2021 World Car of the Year Award, beating out its EV counterparts (Tesla) and every other traditional automaker. However, there remains one major snag when it comes to convincing people to switch to a VW electric car…or any electric car, for that matter. The Challenge with Charging Times Indeed, one of the singular challenges that consumers face when going electric are the charging times. In a world where time equates to money, the idea of sitting around and waiting for your battery to replenish may seem like too large of an inconvenience. It’s not like a cell phone where you can still use it while it’s charging. However, the charging time challenge isn’t as bad as it seems. The two main variables are this: charger type and time. Charging isn’t so much a technology problem so much as it is a scheduling challenge. To help you kill some time on the clock, here are our top five ways to kill time while you’re waiting for your VW electric car to charge up. #1 – Grocery Shopping or Other Errands Most Americans hit the grocery store or Target at least once a week to restock on food, toiletries, and other items. Shopping happens to be the perfect excuse to charge your VW electric car. It should roughly take about a half an hour and most grocery stores these days have charging stations on their lots for EV vehicles. #2 – Schedule an Appointment Another great excuse for charging your EV are those small once-in-while appointments that come up. Maybe you need to get a haircut, or your nails done. Or perhaps it’s time for you to visit the dentist or optometrist. Whatever your short appointment may be, try to use it as an opportunity to charge up. #3 – Enjoy Some “Me Time” Sometimes you’re all caught up on errands and your schedule is wide open, so why not take a little “me time” while your car charges. That could be relaxing at a coffee shop, getting a massage, or doing some leisurely shopping. #4 – Hit the Gym According to the Mayo Clinic, everybody needs to get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise per week. That should afford your vehicle more than enough time to charge up while you’re racking up mileage on the treadmill. #5 – Stream a Show Our phones are pretty amazing these days. If you find yourself low on battery without a single thing to do, take it as your opportunity to watch a show on Netflix, Hulu, or whichever streaming service you prefer. One episode later and you should have enough juice to move on to your next destination. Ready to Step into a VW Electric Car? Stop By VW Cypress! Now that you know a little more about the incredible VW ID.4 and how to kill time when charging up, the next step is to reserve one of your very own. The ID.4 is easily one of our most in-demand new cars, so we suggest going through the reservation process to ensure one is available for you to test drive. Simply visit the Volkswagen ID.4 section of our website and click on the “Build & Reserve Your ID.4” button. This will take you through the process of selecting the trim and optional features of your VW ID.4. Once it arrives from overseas, you can come down to VW Cypress to test drive it. VW Atlas vs Atlas Cross Sport

A Side-by-Side Volkswagen Atlas Comparison Trying to choose between two Volkswagen SUVs for sale is like trying to choose between BBQ brisket and ribs. You really can’t go wrong with either option. It just comes down to a matter of preference. That’s the exact position we find ourselves in when comparing the 2022 VW Atlas vs. the 2022 VW Atlas Cross Sport. They’re both SUVs, they both pack a lot of convenience and safety features, and they both have a ton of power under the hood. So, what’s the difference between these two VW SUVs? Are they really just two sides of the same coin? Let’s break this down. Volkswagen Atlas vs. Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport At-a-Glance To start out, let’s do a side-by-side comparison of the main specs to give you an idea of how these two Atlases measure up against each other. 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Starting MSRP (base trim): $34,670 Fuel economy (base trim): 18 city/24 highway Engine type: SE 2.0L Turbo 8-speed Auto with Tiptronic Horsepower: 276 hp Torque: 266 Lb-ft. Seating capacity: 7 Passenger volume: 154.0 cubic ft. Cargo volume: 20.6 (volume behind 3rd row) / 55.5 (volume behind 2nd row) / 96.8 (volume behind 1st row) cubic ft Wheelbase: 117.3 in. Length: 200.7 in. Height: 70.1 in. Curb weight: 4,262 lbs. 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Starting MSRP (base trim): $32,775 Fuel economy (base trim): 20 city/24 highway Engine type: SE 2.0L Turbo 8-speed Auto with Tiptronic Horsepower: 235 hp Torque: 258 Lb-ft. Seating capacity: 5 Passenger volume: 112.0 cubic ft. Cargo volume: 40.3 (volume behind 2nd row) / 77.8 (volume behind 1st row) cubic ft. Wheelbase: 117.3 in. Length: 195.5 in. Height: 67.8 in. Curb weight: 4,123 lbs. The Main Takeaways on the Volkswagen Atlas Comparison Although both vehicles fly under the same VW Atlas banner, there are some distinct differences between the standard Atlas and the Cross Sport. At first glance, the sticker price slightly leans in favor of the Cross Sport…but only slightly. The difference between the two is practically negligible; however, when you consider the Cross Sport’s slightly more efficient fuel economy along with its leaner curb weight (another fuel economy advantage), it becomes clear that the Cross Sport is the clear choice for the price conscious VW SUV driver. With the VW Atlas’s higher sticker price does come some unique advantages. Although both vehicles run on the same engine, the Atlas eclipses the Cross Sport in terms of horsepower and torque. Additionally, the Atlas can seat two additional passengers compared to the Cross Sport and has far more cargo space. If you’ve got a big family or find yourself going on cross-country trips that require a lot of luggage or gear, the VW Atlas is probably going to be your best bet. It’s like we said earlier…you really can’t go wrong with either VW SUV. It’s all a matter of what your personal preferences are. Safety and Convenience Features When making the VW Atlas vs. VW Atlas Cross Sport comparison, many of the differences apply to performance, pricing, and dimensions. As far as safety and convenience features are concerned, it’s a close race between the two. Safety features such as blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-traffic warning, and forward collision warning with mitigation are standard on both of the Atlas models. The same can be said for much of the features. For instance, both base trim levels of the VW Atlas and VW Atlas Cross Sport feature a 6.5” touchscreen receiver that has Apple CarPlay/Android Auto along with the Volkswagen super slick and convenient Car Net app. As with any VW vehicle, the higher the trim level you select, the more features you can expect. If you were to go with the highest trim level for either vehicle, your stereo would be upgraded to a 12-speaker Fender system. Volkswagen Atlas Carefree Coverage One of the huge benefits of going with a new VW SUV is the best-in-class coverage plan. This applies to any late model Volkswagen SUV for sale. It includes 2 yrs.
