The VW ID.Life is an upcoming all-electric subcompact SUV that should make its way over to the states by 2025. The VW ID. Buzz is the first all-electric van from the automaker, which will start making its way onto dealership lots by next year. Additionally, VW will also have an all-electric sedan known as the ID. AERO.

Rounding out the list of new EV releases is the Volkswagen ID.3 for sale. The following are the top six things you should know about the VW ID.3.

#1 – The VW ID.3 Made its Debut in 2016

Chances are you’re hearing about the VW ID.3 for the first time today; however, it may surprise you to know that this concept first showed its all-electric face all the way back in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show. At that point in time, it was being touted as the very first model in the ID sub-brand.

#2 – The VW ID.3 Uses the MEB Platform

The Modular Electric Drive matrix (MEB, for short) enables electric vehicles of all shapes and sizes to be built using an adjustable battery system at the foundation. It just so happens that the VW ID.3 was the very first to use the now-famous MEB platform.

#3 – The VW ID.3 Aims to Elevate the Hot Hatchback Lineup

The VW Golf GTI is the resident hot hatchback in the Volkswagen lineup of vehicles. The VW ID.3 aims to carry on the tradition of small and speedy whips with an electric version of the four-door hatchback, providing drivers with an estimated 200 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.

#4 – Trim Level Will Dictate Driving Distance

There’s always one big question when talking about an electric car for sale – what’s the max driving range? Regarding the Volkswagen ID.3 for sale, that’s entirely dependent on what trim level the driver selects. The ranges break down as follows:

#6 – The VW ID.3 May Not See a North American Release

Currently, there are no plans for the VW ID.3 to roll-out in America; however, that isn’t to say we won’t get some form of an electric hatchback in the coming years. Remember, VW is releasing an EV van, sedan, and SUV in the immediate future. It only makes sense a hatchback would eventually be tacked on to that list.
